In a beautifully chaotic scene in Arizona on Saturday, Ryder stepped up to the frenzied 16th hole at TPC Scottsdale — unique because of the three levels of grandstands that surround it, allowing around 20,000 rowdy fans to get a glimpse — and aced it, setting off pandemonium.
On the 124-yard par-3 at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, Ryder stuck the shot a few feet right of the pin and spun it left, good for a hole-in-one that resulted in plenty of hugs and plenty more lost cups and cans.
CBS footage shows shaking grandstands, partying people, all sorts of liquids in the air and dozens of beer cans and cups on the course.

If you have ever been to the 16th hole...it is insane!
Probably the best thing about Covid was watching several golf tournaments without idiot crowds yelling inane crap. This was like being at an Eagles game. Nothing but drunk morons.
If you have ever been to the 16th hole...it is insane!
It’s on my bucket list to do. Next year the Super Bowl will be held in Phoenix the same date as the WM Phoenix Open. That should be crazy.
I just called my dad to see if he saw it (he likes to watch golf). He hadn’t, but he did tell me that some 25 or so years ago, Tiger Woods did the exact same thing at the exact same hole. And the crowd went nuts there too...but I don’t think the amount of beer flying was the same.
He needs a front end alignment. Steering left awful bad.
Insane in what way?
Don’t wind up being this guy!
It’s like the earth is rotating too fast.
The irony that the satanic festival is in the same city right now.
I was there and saw it happen, and was part of the mayhem although I didn’t throw beer or anything.
The Satanic Temple is holding its first annual convention in Scottsdale next year after the organization lost a federal suit against the city alleging religious discrimination.
But the temple announced Tuesday on its Instagram page that SatanCon 2022 will take place from Feb. 11-13 at the Saguaro Hotel in Old Town.
I’m glad this happened. Nobody wearing masks. Nobody social distancing. Beer flying everywhere. This is the way America is supposed to be.
Totally agree.
