As the public learned this week about Donald Trump “improperly removing” White House documents, the former president’s aides characterized the records as largely trivial. The Republican’s team told The Washington Post that the items that found their way to Mar-a-Lago “included correspondence with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, which Trump once described as ‘love letters,’ as well as a letter left for Trump by President Barack Obama.”
The explanation wasn’t especially credible at the time, and soon after, it started unraveling. For one thing, the controversy wasn’t about a handful of records; it was about 15 boxes filled with documents Trump wasn’t supposed to take. For another, the materials weren’t just harmless keepsakes; they reportedly included sensitive records believed to be classified.

The fakestream media neglects to mention that former presidents retain their clearance level, and may well receive classified information, or have classified information after their term expires.
Former presidents also have staff, and Secret Service members around them who are involved in handling their materials.
The idea that it would be a problem for a former president to have classified materials is nonsense. It is also nonsense to suggest that all materials related to the presidency stay in the National Archives. Anyone who has visited a presidential library knows that is not true. What would be the point of building presidential libraries if they had nothing in them?

If ONE thing in any of those boxes had been been a ‘cover up’ item or even ‘might have been’ - it would have been identified and put on the front page of the Washington Post.
Since that hasn’t happened this is nothing.

My theory is that Durham won’t get far on documents. The agencies have a great history of not recording key conversations and decisions, ... plausible deniability is sacrosanct. And for those documents that might be very relevant because they are standard operating procedure (e.g. F I B 302 documents, notes on interviewee’s statements) they can (un)surprisingly go “missing”. In addition, the code of silence within the agency is nearly impenetrable. As much as we are frustrated with Durham, it’s easier to successfully climb Mt Everest in the winter with just hiking boots, t-shirt and shorts.
You might be right on the motivation, but it may be more to level the playing field if Trum is the nominee and HRC “needs” to jump in to save the party in 2024 after abject failure of the Harris-Xiden-Trojan administration.
Just harmless keepsakes
Larger point is that Sandy the Burglar didn’t go to jail on the way to the funeral home. But he was convicted. If you visit the National Archives website, it lists a “notable thefts” from the archives. Everyone did time in prison except Burglar ... and one guy whose was outside the statute of limitations.
There was debate about this when it happened. Don’t recall anyone claimed it was her personal property.
These leftist idiots dont realize they set always the precedent for all future nonsense. Whether its disputing elections, quid pro quo, covering for mishandling of of “top secret” documents, fake news witch hunts, etc..... they have undercut every angle they can use to defend themsleves later when the chickens come home to roost.
Seems I recall a certain sos who mishandled classified docs too, who the left found “sure, she did these things, but she “didn’t intent to”, so we won’t press charges”

It’s arguably a government document/property but not a classified document. Two different things! Heck, a Prez is reading that to the public during the SOTU address how can it be classified?
