Trump's mishandling of classified docs just got tougher to defend
MSNBC—-FAKE news ^ | 02/11/2022 | Benen

As the public learned this week about Donald Trump “improperly removing” White House documents, the former president’s aides characterized the records as largely trivial. The Republican’s team told The Washington Post that the items that found their way to Mar-a-Lago “included correspondence with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, which Trump once described as ‘love letters,’ as well as a letter left for Trump by President Barack Obama.”

The explanation wasn’t especially credible at the time, and soon after, it started unraveling. For one thing, the controversy wasn’t about a handful of records; it was about 15 boxes filled with documents Trump wasn’t supposed to take. For another, the materials weren’t just harmless keepsakes; they reportedly included sensitive records believed to be classified.

We know Berger was a Clinton stooge. He may have paid a small price, but Clinton got away with whatever Berger stole. What was so damning? We’ll never know. Perhaps in the current case, some secretary or underling will get a similar “punishment” and that will be the end of it like with Berger. I think they will still try to lay this on Trump. It is never tit-for-tat with the dims. Mittens will be deeply concerned as well.

That really isn’t the point. The media rallied for everyone to look the other way.

Why would any of us be blindsided by total propaganda BS none of are going to believe anyway? No offense intended but I think your defense of posting leftist propaganda and concern troll crap is very weak at best.

There is absolutely no record of Sandy Berger paying a nickle towards that fine, a fine that was given in lieu of 20 years in a federal prison. Feel free to show us where he did.

When a fine is paid, is there a publicly accessible record? To answer your question, would I have to travel to DC and ask that records from 2005 be retrieved from a warehouse?

I feel comfortable assuming that an assessed fine was paid unless there’s some indication to the contrary. When Berger was sentenced, George W. Bush was President and Alberto Gonzales was his Attorney General. I can’t imagine the DoJ not going after a defendant -- any defendant -- who agreed to a plea deal and then violated it. That goes double for a prominent Clinton aide. If it had happened, one of the outraged prosecutors would have blown the whistle.

And, getting back to the subject of this thread, anti-Trump prosecutors wouldn't care about actually collecting a few bucks from him. They'd be happy with a guilty plea or a conviction. The goal is the smear, not the $50,000.

Anything you see or read about Trump is laughable. As Mary McCarthy said about Lillian Hellman, everything the media say about Trump is a lie, including "and" and "the."

Even the hacks at Pravda and Izvestia in the old days would blush at the patent bull patties laid out daily by the American media.

That’s not a defense...it’s a reason. Having heard the lie and discussed it enables you to have a response at the ready. I may be a little slower than you, so I’m needful of the prep. Facts in a row, so to speak.

Of course, there is always the “don’t click on it”.

Documents? What documents?

This "story" is from one of the eneMedia members who humped the Trump/Russia conspiracy hoax. This "story" is also based on an unnamed "source."

Sorry, the fact that the Trump/Russia conspiracy hoax "sources" haven't been outed publicly, means these so-called journalists remain untrustworthy.

That really isn’t the point. The media rallied for everyone to look the other way.

Berger’s guilty plea and subsequent sentencing were reported in the media. The case wasn’t front-page news but it wasn’t hushed up.

If a Democratic prosecutor got a grand jury in heavily Democratic DC to indict Donald J. Trump, do you think The New York Times would run it on page 17? Ha! The TV networks would interrupt coverage of the Olympics to air that story. It would be wall-to-wall for days.

The point is that this can’t just be dismissed as “propaganda” and on that basis ignored. We’ll be hearing a lot more about it for at least the near future. I like being informed in advance of what to expect from the other side. Thank you, Phoenix8, for the posting.

I think we all have a proper response to anything the progressive communist Democrats say. You’re correct most of us know everything they say is a lie. The other thing is, even if you completely factual response and provide the the actual proof, the left doesn’t care, one cannot reason with fanatics, religious or political. So the bottom line is you’re wasting your time trying to prepare to answer them, all they want is for all of us to die, they have zero inclination to try to reason with us. Thus I am somewhat suspicious of everything that looks and sounds like leftist inspired concern trolling like berlin_freeper used to do.

He gave that job to a group of his staff, as the job was too big for one person, and assigned them with the job to sort those items that would stay and those that would be moved to Florida.

Now ask the next question:

How would the National Archives have known that there possibly were documents in Florida that were questionable?

More than likely they knew because one of the people supposedly working for Trump and sorting documents was in fact another swamp rat that set him up.

BINGO! WINNER! WINNER! CHICKEN DINNER!

First of all, these boxes were planted by the Russians!

Next, Trump’s memories must contain Top Secret information.

Thus his brain will be removed and purged.

Thanks for sharing! Since it is your son, some slack must be cut, but no ground given. He narrowed it down to “top secret and classified documents.” He needs to address why these allegations are very different from HRC’s established criminal activity (Comey misapplied the law!) with regards to classified documents and a personal server used to escape FOIA, destruction of evidence, etc. Does he acknowledge she broke the law?

My response is that “I am not buying it.” Same partisan hack old news allegations of criminal wrongdoing by Trump. He and his party media claimed Trump was a Russian asset, that the Clinton dossier was real etc. Had to tie up the country for almost 3 years with Mueller who found no such thing and knew very early that it was all a lie. Bottom line, is he can believe the media with a “boy cried wolf” problem when it comes to Trump - he’s free to do that.

If you ripped up the SOTU speech, see what would happen.

Classified vs public givernment document is besides the point - the larger issue is media biased treatment - its latest anti-Trump allegation versus an actual, public destruction of givernment document by the Speaker of the House. One is bad and the other should be excused? Media has a history of Trump hatred and reporting untruths. I tread carefully.

Agree about the media and all that.

But the question I was answering was whether the SOTU is classified. It isn’t.
