The American-born Olympic ice skater who gave up her U.S. citizenship to compete for China has fallen on the ice for a second time, infuriating her adopted homeland.
Beverly Yi, 19, was born in the U.S.A. but a few years ago decided to renounce her American citizenship and moved to China to make her debut as a Chinese figure skater. She changed her name to a Zhu Yi and began appearing in competitions in the communist nation.
Yi’s debut was bad enough, but China’s ardent Olympics fans were sparked to anger all over again on Monday when Zhu Yi fell on the ice for a second time during Monday’s final event in the team competition.

this skater’s father is a man named ZHU song-chun. He came to the USA, studied at Harvard and Stanford, and ran an Artificial Intelligence and optical recognition lab at UCLA. He is considered a top scientist and researcher in this area.
In 2020, he was recruited to go back to China to take a chairmanship at Peking University and also run a government-sponsored Artificial Intelligence laboratory.
Some people in China claim his daughter on the Chinese Olympic team was also done to “cement” his now permanent ties in China

Russian skater Kamila Valieva, 15, is the 1st woman to land a quad with a quad salchow at the Olympics. Next, Valieva completed a quad toe loop with a triple-toe combination. She attempted a third quad but fell on the landing. Nevertheless, she won the gold medal in the the figure skating competition.
Not all is lost with a fall.

Her social opportunities will suffer, as well as her future opportunities for travel, education and career. But fortunately for her, her father is someone the ChiComms actively recruited to defect. He's a computer science and artificial intelligence expert. She expected to be a celebrity and national hero. That dream is over.
