It feels so inadequate to try to express my thoughts in a few words.
First I have read everything you have in your bio and the links over the years several times. Both of my own sons are 0331 Machine Gunners in the USMC. Both of my sons are of smaller stature, one is nearly the same as your son and one is even smaller yet they often carry the receiver for a 50 as well as their packs.
Second, I have about three or four specific Marines that have been KIA that I often think about and your son is one of them. Just good ole red blooded American young men who paid a price willingly that they didn’t owe. This is the point at which words fail to be able to express the gratitude that I and many others feel as we try to comprehend how you feel and what we could say to help which we can’t. All we can do is say thank you for sharing your son with us. I pray for your inward peace and I hope you find rest and solace. I know often that these 17 years have seemed like one day and then at times they seem surreal. When you look around and see patriotism in action know that the spirit of your son lives on.
