“This is the most amazing video you will see today, this week, this month, probably this year.
It’s staggering to believe that such a film exists, narrated by the sailor who filmed it decades before as a young man in 1928. This is priceless footage, don’t miss it. 3,000 tons of ship, 5,000 tons of cargo, the largest sailing ship afloat at the time. No power winches, no motor, no electricity at all. Then going around Cape Horn “the wrong way” (against the wind) during a massive storm.

It really resonated with me when he described how ordinary sailors routinely performed super dangerous and difficult tasks, “hypnotized” by being part of a crew of young men where this was just expected.”
