I like political leaders who speak plainly about the dangers of communism. I recall Ronald Reagan calling the communists in Russia an evil empire for the way they oppressed their people and the peoples of Eastern Europe in the 1980s. I liked the way he called Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall. Reagan was the leader of the free world calling out the communists for oppressing their people. Reagan called a spade a spade.
Our current leaders do not speak so clearly. When he was running for President, Joe Biden said this about Communist China, “I want China to succeed.” During a campaign stop in Iowa, Biden said, “They’re not bad folks, folks.... They’re not competition for us.”
Now Communist China is hosting the Winter Olympics. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi sees China a bit more clearly than President Biden. While wishing our athletes well, she added a warning. “I do not encourage them to speak out against the Chinese government there because I fear for their safety if they do.” She later added, “They are there to compete” and are not to “risk incurring the anger of the Chinese government because they are ruthless.”
I have lived in a free country for 68 years. As I look over our history, I see that millions of immigrants have come here attracted by the freedoms and benefits of living in a free society. At the same time, I do not see throngs of people trying to immigrate to communist countries like China. Why is that?
If they were here today, Reagan of the USA and Churchill of the UK would tell us that we cannot appease tyrants. I am sick of hearing Americans telling us to “walk on eggshells” around the communists in China.

It is very fitting that Reagan gave his epic evil empire speech at the national convention of Evangelicals. His eye was clear, there was no moral confusion as to what communism was, EVIL.
LOL!
I remember when Nixon started with China and I really felt it a bad idea.
Led by Kissinger.
Today, kids in US schools proudly and openly support communism.
Communism:
Few, if any, religious exemptions from gov’t mandates
Free speech limited by a gov’t asking the private sector to censor
A free press intimated by gov’t unless they repeat the gov’t “truth”
A gov’t attempting to eliminate the private ownership of firearms.
A gov’t taking away due process rights and using military tactics for civilian misdemeanors
A gov’t incarcerating citizens indefinitely
A gov’t unrestricted from tracking your private messages and papers
A gov’t dismissive of states’ rights
.
.
.
Folks, communism is here NOW
Instead of China becoming more like the US, it is the US that is becoming more like China.
“If they were here today, Reagan of the USA and Churchill of the UK would tell us that we cannot appease tyrants. I am sick of hearing Americans telling us to “walk on eggshells” around the communists in China. Their enslavement of over a billion people in China is just as evil as the enslavement of blacks in our country prior to 1863 when Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation.
The taste of slavery is still in our mouths and yet we are silent as the communists enslave their people and coerce nations to kowtow to their power“.
The people voting for the Democrats, the blacks in particular, who point out constantly America owes the blacks for the ills of slavery that occurred in this country some 57 years ago, of whom no living person now has known or seen, these same people turn a blind eye to the fact they are supporting people who are getting rich off the tradings and deals with a country that is currently participating in slaveries.
I smile every time someone uses the term communism in this way. Communism is not Totalitarianism. True communism is the end-game, in which the workers of the world have overthrown the ruling classes and established a society based on the idea of a classless, stateless society.
The “T” word will not be used by any over whelming government group because of the effect it creates. And it is impossible to achieve. So it is like a sub group of 6 legged humans. It’s there but only on paper. So there are no dangers of communism if it can’t be there. Worry about totalitarianism. Or worse, oligarchy, the government by the few which is what we have now and is even more confining.

“It’s time for plain speaking about communism”
Shared misery for the masses.
Good point. We won against Communism not because of anything that we did, but because it was a economic system that could never survive in the long term.
China learned that lesson, and has embraced a system much closer to corporatist fascism. We defeated that ideology on the battlefield once before, but it is not one that collapses on its own.
Here's some good ol' fashioned commonsense about Communism:
KILL A COMMIE FOR MOMMIE!
(I'm old enough to remember when saying that was popular.)
If you get locked up, you are going to rot there for a very long time.
Pick your battles and battles fields carefully. Intelligence is not cowardice.
Today is Ronald Reagan’s birthday (Feb 6, 1911).
I wonder how the conversation with the teacher went.
“...but it is not one that collapses on its own.”
We may have defeated it in our country with the results of the civil war. But the economy of every country on the rock is fashioned to fit their needs depending upon what a few think. And sometimes it takes something like a civil war or a complete economic collapse to provide insight into the correct way a county’s economy is going.
The US has had a number of economic “corrections” that were mostly politically created our first while under the rule of England. And I see a correction coming up after the liberals destroy the economy of 2016 through 2018 that Trump and a conservative congress built until Pelosi and the libs got control again in the house. And they knew they weren’t going to break down the economy so they went after Trump to get control of the president’s slot. With that, they could control the economy again and change it to a defensive stance they could control and raise voters.
