Community “charity” fundraising company GoFundMe demonstrated they’re woke and fascist at the same time by canceling the Freedom Convoy campaign and promising to send the $9+ million raised to “approved charities.” Now, they’re scrambling to fix the PR nightmare that ensued by moving to refund all donations.
The company had hoped that by dropping the news late on a Friday that they’d avoid some of the backlash. But it was quickly seized by conservatives across social media as an example of the totalitarian nature of the left. We didn’t let them oppose freedom without voicing our opinions and pushing to make them feel the pain.
But maybe it wasn’t just the backlash that got them to change their minds. As Christian competitor GiveSendGo noted on their social accounts, disputing the charges does more pain to the company than simply requesting a refund:

7-10 days for a refund, but they charged the cards same-day.
That 7-10 days delay (on top of time already spent) harms the Freedom Convoy, which needs support immediately.
This is criminal.
If you get caught robbing a bank, you can just promise to bring it back in 7-10 days.
“Yep ....and they announced they were going to steal it. I’d like to see if they have stolen previous donations.”
Is suspect that’s part of their business model. And I base that on just how smoothly and without any second thoughts, they did this stunt.
And I suspect in prior cases, they were, of course, much lower profile, and when the victims complained about it, even to conservative media, they simply weren’t believed.

This stupid political move by GFM should tank their service, and loose their investors tons of $$$$$$.
Two acts of wire fraud = RICO and treble damages, plus attorney fees and expenses.
I am done for all time giving money through GoFundMe. If a cause moves me, I will seek out another way to contribute to it.

Christian orientation. They've raised over a million so far. Their server is jammed.
If enough people do it, the fees charged to GFM increase. For example, if 1,000 people go this route, GFM might get hit with $25 fee per transaction. But if 100,000 people do it, the fee might rise to $200 per transaction which right there is $20 million. At that scale, GFM could lose their merchant accounts.
i’m wondering how much money they made in interest while holding that 10 million. They shouldn’t get to keep it.
Cancel anyone who uses that criminal enterprise in any way.
What did they think would happen? You can’t be that stupid.
And a massive case of cyi after the dumbass who came up with the idea got a call from their lawyers.
They have already stolen millions of Dollars from people supporting good causes.
I donated a mere $50 Dollars several years ago to a person in desperate need of a lung transplant. GFM took 10% of that. It is simply outrageous.
That person got the new lungs but still had immense medical bills. GFM should be outlawed. I knew years ago that I would never use those bandits again.

The chargeback strategy should be standard operating procedure EVERY TIME gofundme de-platforms a conservative cause. An email should automatically go out (from the fund originator) to every donor detailing this method of “payback” should gofundme pull this crap. “Dear Donor. If gofundme blocks this fund, please go thru your charge card company and request a chargeback. Gofundme will automatically be charged a minimum of $15 to handle your request.”

There’s more to it than just that. After a certain number of chargebacks, Visa, Mastercard, etc. will raise their transaction fees, and then at another level, they will cancel their ability to accept transactions altogether.
