Whoopi Goldberg is "livid" after she was suspended from "The View" over her claim that the Holocaust was "not about race" -- and is telling co-workers she is going to quit the show, according to a source.
Goldberg, 66, feels "humiliated" at being disciplined by ABC execs after she followed their advice to apologize for the ill-conceived comments, a well-placed insider told The Post.
"She feels ABC executives mishandled this. She followed their playbook. She went on 'The Late Show With Steven Colbert' and then apologized again on 'The View' the next day," a source said.
The source added that while Goldberg is taking the suspension hard and says she wants to leave the show, insiders believe she's likely just sounding off.
"Her ego has been hurt and she's telling people she's going to quit," the source said. "Suspension from 'The View' is like getting suspended from Bravo. The bar is very low."
Reps for Goldberg and ABC did not return requests for comment.

Despite what these articles allege as the motivation for her stage name, a part of me thinks that, as a young comedian trying to get noticed, she purposely juxtaposed a whoopie cushion with the name Goldberg as a subtle mockery of Jews.

Long ago she was kind of a weird sensation on Broadway. She was supposedly this ultra-talented homeless woman (sort of like a female RobIn Williams) who was spotted by a director named Mike Nichols and given a one=woman show which lots of NYC people went to, kind of like a virtue-signaling thing. It was all a put-on, she was never homeless.
The account I read was that when confronted by executives on her error and presented with the facts, her response was “I’ll take your word for it” rather than mea culpa. Hence her suspension.
I’d rather have her back to let her big mouth do all the damage it can do.

I agree with you. While the company certainly has the right to "discipline" her if they wish, one would think that "The View" is about discussions that can sometimes become heated. The simple answer to this should be that Whoopi apologizes and says "I did not realize Jews were a race and now I do" and everybody moves on. But this is the way the Left operates. People constantly get canceled over a 20 year old tweet. Somehow the execs @ ABC have decided she has crossed a line, and she feels they have crossed it. This is a lot like the Sharon Osborne incident on that other laughable "women's issues" show on CBS.
What we are seeing is "the Revolution eating its own". If you've ever studied the French Revolution, you see one leader after another get "canceled" as they are sent to the guillotine.
If they’re going to cancel josh rogan, greaseman and roseanne barr then the rules have to apply to both sides and the stupid and ignorantly named ‘whoopie goldberg’ has to be permanently cancelled despite any apologies she attempts. If not then then they’re not rules, they’re weapons and what we’ve got is war.
ABC is not a private company. It is a government-regulated subsidiary of the publicly-traded Disney conglomerate.

I witnessed her myself , with my own eyes, is the cuddly company of a diminutive while gal , surrounded by a phalanx of bodyguards, coming off the Golden Gate bridge . Zero doubt about what I was seeing . Not that it mattered to me at the time . I said “ Hi Whoopie” as they passed my wife & I . At that exact moment a passing car let out a loud backfire . Sounded like a gunshot. The girl & Whoopie literally jumped into each others arms and the bodyguards all glared at me ...In a second it was clear what had actually happened and we all went on our way. True story . Take it as you wish. Maybe she’s Bi, but I know what lez looks like when I see it...
