Once upon a time, like just two years ago, a name change for Washington’s NFL team did not seem possible. Now, going forward, the Burgundy and Gold representing the nation’s capital will be known as the Washington Commanders.
“We are the Commanders,” team president Jason Wright said during the Wednesday reveal on NBC’s “Today Show.” He added that the name is something the team “could own and grow for the next 90 years.”
Co-owner and co-CEO Dan Snyder said in a statement: “As an organization, we are excited to rally and rise together as one under our new identity while paying homage to our local roots and what it means to represent the nation’s capital.”
“As we kick-off our 90th season, it is important for our organization and fans to pay tribute to our past traditions, history, legacy and the greats that came before us. We continue to honor and represent the Burgundy & Gold while forging a pathway to a new era in Washington. Today may mark the first day for the Washington Commanders, but we are and always will be Washington.”
The team released a video on the rebrand shortly after the announcement:
My father owned a ‘51 Studebaker. Were they all called Commanders or was that just one of several models?
It is lame and the new spring professional football names and logos are pretty bad too.
” Were they all called Commanders or was that just one of several models?”
The Commander was a shorter version of the Land Cruiser. You can tell them apart by the rear vent windows on the Cruiser which are absent on the Commander. I don’t know what other model names they had, but there were other models.
The NFL version of football is becoming wiffle-ball. All serious contact is very much controlled. But for every trend there seems to be a counter-trend -- and that seems to be MMA.
i never understood why they wanted to be named after those little red potatoes in the first place.
A good case could be made for that. But as a diehard Redskin fan from ghe 1950s I prefer the Washingtom Twats.
Washington Commodes.
Bejing Commanders has a nice ring to it.........
I’m still calling the them “DC PC Pnssys!”
From Reds to Commies...
And I was just getting used to 'WFT' -- or considering the quality of play, the 'WTF?'.
Hail To The Redskins!
Got to have Wings in order to keep up. Redskins, the Big W,
Here's the anticipated logo, the "missing 23rd letter" (when switched to a Hebrew keyboard, the W is the apostrophe/geresh key which represents a missing letter). The key is located right under the "23".
What the traditions have been saying all along. It's the very last entry in the Tree of Souls (pg. 522-523) --
670. A NEW TORAH
God is destined to give a new Torah to Israel at the hands of the Messiah, as it is said, "A new Torah shall come forth from me" (Isa 51.4). That new Torah will be written with 23 letters in the alphabet. That extra letter had accompanied the other 22 from the first, but it had been invisible. With the addition of that letter, the letters of the Torah will combine in a different way, and new meanings will emerge.
Some say that the Messiah will clarify the words of that new Torah. Others say that Israel will not need the instructions of the Messiah in the days to come. Instead, they will receive instruction from God Himself...
Origins and early years (1932 - 1945)
The city of Boston was awarded an NFL franchise on July 9, 1932, under the ownership of George Preston Marshall.[3] The team was named after the Boston Braves baseball team, with whom they shared Braves Field. The following year, the team moved to Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox, and changed the team's name to the "Redskins". Marshall hired William Henry "Lone Star" Dietz, who claimed to be part Sioux,[4][5] as the team's head coach.[6] In their final season in Boston, the Redskins earned a spot in the NFL championship against the Green Bay Packers, losing 216.
The Redskins moved to Washington, D.C., in 1937; Marshall later said Boston showed a lack of interest in the team.

U [יו] are the holy name that was never meant to be just a number. Meant to be paired up. There's always a song:
