WASHINGTON, Friday, Jan. 31.

THE DANGER OF FOREIGN INTERVENTION. Private letters received in Washington from per sons abroad, confirm the impressions you have in New-York, that the Governments of England, France and Spain meditate an early recognition of the independence of the Confederate States. This recognition, it will be pretended, is made in the cause of humanity. Their Ministers assume that the war on the part of the "North" is rapidly degenerating into a fanatical crusade against the social order of the South, which must end in servile insurrections slaughter of women and children, and finally the general massacre of slaves by their masters. To prevent these horrors, the "leading Christian nations" feel it their duty to interfere. The true reason, however, is that they wish to see the Union permanently divided and crippled.

WILKES had not been authorized by the Government; and further, that they would reserve themselves perfectly free to act upon it until they should hear from this side of the water. If Her Majesty's Ministers were disposed to act upon the subject with a view to an adjustment, they would be met in an equally friendly spirit. His. lordship expressed his gratification on receiving this information. He had himself little doubt in regard to the first point ever since, learning from me the nature of the instructions given to the Commander of the James Adger.
