I’ve seen little places in the food courts of Malls with names like “Texas BBQ”. The people who work there do not speak much English and the meals are mostly General Tso’s Chicken, Beef with Broccoli, Fried Rice and Moo Goo Gai Pan.
That’s Texas BBQ. Hopefully they aren’t violating some quota on how many BBQ places the mall can have.
That statement alone is proof that they know nothing about Texas BBQ. We have many different styles of BBQ here.

A gentleman that worked for me for many years was a serious foodie. He was Tex-Mex, fluent in English, Spanish, Italian, and French.
He enjoyed some very nice restaurants and would visit the kitchens.
Invariably the same report; the kitchen help was mostly Hispanic most of the time.
Sometimes I believe he was a bit disapointed.
For a real vacation, go to Texas and drive over the state eating and sampling the fare of the best BBQ Texas has to offer.
You will visit small towns, interesting real folks and have fantastic eating experiences. I would suggest making the visit in Blue Bonnet season to observe the fantastic acreage of Blue Bonnets and other wild flowers. Then also........ its Texas at it’s very best
