Breaking: Tom Brady has announced that he will be retiring from the NFL, sources tell @JeffDarlington and @AdamSchefter .
I’ve often said that people like Brady who hang on for a lot longer than their use by date simply doesn’t have a plan for retirement. Maybe he does. It just seems like it took this long for him to put it into motion. Good luck, Tom, I wish you well. Now maybe the refs will call it straight for the Bucs. I wonder if Gronk will follow him into retirement. Brady was the only reason he went to Tampa. Now that
Tom is gone, there’s no reason for him to stick around.

A lot longer than his use by date? He won the SB 50 weeks ago. And led the league in a bunch of stats this season.
As for retirement plan, well he’s got a pretty solid modeling and spokesman career. And his wife make 10 times as much money as him.
Supposedly the two are worth $630 million. I could make it last...
He goes out with a TD.
I haven’t seen an official announcement from Tom himself?
And his last pass was a TD!
Gotta wait and see. If I recall, some dude named Rob Gronkowski once announced his retirement.
Brady’s witch of a wife is the WORST kept secret in the NFL. It’s not even a secret.
I just got a “text alert” from the WSJ.
So if it’s a bogus story, it’s widespread.
Best to retire now. while he’s still healthy and has not had his bell rung by severe concussions. Most people seem to like Tom, even the players who tend to stay in trouble, like the one who took his jersey off and threw it into the audience. Tom will have many good choices to choose from.
Worse than the guy who put his girlfriend’s head through a wall?
How about Aaron Hernandez?
Ray Rice?
Rae Carruth?
Ray Lewis?
...
I wasn’t making any comparison. Just a statement of fact.
No, your opinion. Of course, you’re allowed to have it.
I’ll say the convicted murderers are worse.

: Tom Brady contacted
@Buccaneers
GM Jason Licht and told him he has not yet made a final decision on retirement, disputing the ESPN report. Licht is respecting Brady’s process and waiting for a definitive answer, whenever it comes, from the QB.
Definitely in the “our retirement plan is to buy a cruise ship” level.
The strongest argument to be made is that Gretzky didn't just break records -- he obliterated them. I believe he retired with 62 official NHL records, and now -- more than 22 years ago -- still holds 61* records.
Most of Brady's records were set for two reasons: (1) he hung around long after most players would have retired, and (2) his career coincided with a period when the NFL rules changed to make it easier for quarterbacks and receivers to compile epic statistics.
* -- Interestingly, TWO of Gretzky's records were actually broken, but he gained a new record (average points per game) when Mario Lemieux came out of retirement and couldn't maintain the average scoring pace from the first part of his career.
Ruth. Because he was a great pitcher and the best hitter, and saved the game of Baseball.
Good for him. I read an article about him last week and not being around his kids as much as he wanted.
Even as a PSU Alum - where he beat them one year - It was a pimple on the ass of what he would eventually accomplish. I don’t like Massholes that don’t know what to do w/ their shopping carts at Publix. I Don’t like the NFL. I don’t like New England politics. I don’t like much of anything these days. But I can’t say a bad word about Tom Brady. He is truly the GOAT. Anyone that thinks otherwise is skewed.
