Thanks! Let’s hope most places have reached or gone down from the peak.

The spread has peaked but not the deaths. It'll take 2-3 weeks to catch up.

--- Worldometer data as of 28 January:

A comparison of two nations:

USA, led by Fauci / NIH / CDC / FDA.

( 905,661 "official Covid deaths" of Americans over two years of the pandemic / 331,002,651 Americans ( x 100 = 0.274 % of the US population.

The US is 18th in total deaths./1M population, and 32nd in total cases/1M population in the world.

Germany led by the Robert Koch Institut.

( 118,244 "official Covid deaths" of Germans over two years of the pandemic /83,783,942 Germans ) x 100 = 0.141% of the German population

Germany is 70th in total deaths./1M population, and 81st in total cases/1M population.

0.274 % for the US population compared to 0.141% for the German population, about half the lethality of the US "response" to the pandemic. Thus again, one sees the ineptitude of Fauci and his "response." Trust the data.

New cases are really starting to nosedive. Next week should be great.

I just popped positive for COVID myself this morning.

I was fully vaccinated (Pfizer) and boosted last month (J&J), but got mild symptoms starting on Sunday. My first at home test was negative on Monday, but symptoms continued, and my wife tested positive, so I went in for a PCR test on Thursday.

Never ran a fever, or saw my pulse oxygen fall. I started feeling better today. Been taking zinc, Vitamin D and C, quercetin, drinking tonic water, Lactoferrin and Benadryl at night, with melatonin. Maybe that made it less severe, but the duration seems pretty standard for Omicron.

“The spread has peaked but not the deaths.”

All the timeframes are shorter with Omicron. From infection to symptoms, from symptoms to resolution.

The lag between the peak in new cases, and the peak in new hospitalizations, was only two days for the US Omicron wave.

I think we are within a week of seeing this wave peak for deaths.

Has anyone compared efficacy of different shot combos against Omicron? I stayed all Moderna (2 shots + booster), myself.

“Has anyone compared efficacy of different shot combos against Omicron?”

I don’t think so. Over the Spring and Summer last year, shot combos got studied, in preparation for Governments to decide on authorizing mixing of types.

Omicron happened so quick, there was little time collect data. I have seen figures on how individual vaccines performed against Omicron, but not various mix and match combos.

Anyway at least now I (and I think also you) will have some strengthened immune response at the first line of defense, in the nose and upper respiratory tract, having survived infection.

drinking tonic water,

Any particular reason for that? I believe the quinine in tonic water was used by British colonials in India and Africa to make their sweat bitter, which made them unattractive to mosquitos which carry malaria.

Is there any claim that it has a positive effect vis-a-vis Covid?

“Wish the stats showed how many daily tests.”

The coming tidal wave of at home test kits (Biden has contracted for a billion) is likely going to swamp the statistics, making apples to apples comparisons difficult.

Maybe that is the purpose for squandering so much taxpayer money, after the Omicron wave has already peaked, and no more waves are likely.

I thought the Biden Admin was buying all these tests just to look like they were doing something constructive, but maybe they want to skew the stats for some purpose (like how they want mail in voting, to achieve different outcomes).

“drinking tonic water” “Any particular reason for that?”

The quinine in tonic water (pretty strongly regulated for its concentration) has a zinc ionophore effect (helps to shuttle zinc through cell membranes into the cells, as does its derivative, Hydroxychloroquine).

A liter of tonic water has about the same degree of ionophore effect as the typical daily dose of Hydroxychloroquine, when used as prophylaxis against malaria.

Hydroxychloroquine may have other effects that make it useful for COVID, but that is one that non-prescription tonic water can replicate. Some folks recommend non-prescription Quercetin as another option for that function, of increasing zinc uptake/activity.

Colorado doing much better, the 7 day average of new cases is down 56.7% since the peak on January 15. Hospitalizations have dropped slightly, death numbers have a lot of noise and missed reporting days but have really gone nowhere in 3 months.

I’ve read that EGCG (found in green tea) is also an effective zinc ionophore.

The site you reference for your data visualizations is based on the same data as the other big four. Believe it as you will.

Did you look look at the "About" statement for the site?

https://ourworldindata.org/about

"On the closely integrated website SDG-Tracker.org we present the data and research on the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In 2015, all countries in the world signed up to reach the SDGs by 2030 and we built this site to track progress towards them. Our SDG-Tracker is a widely accessed publication that presents all the latest available data on the 232 SDG-Indicators with which the 17 Goals are assessed.

"This is the core of our mission and extends beyond the SDGs. We all, the citizens of this world, are investing vast resources towards the ambitious goal of making the world a better place: we dedicate our lives to medical care and education, we are developing new technologies, we are spending large sums of money on infrastructure and the education of the next generation. What we do not do enough is to investigate whether these efforts are actually getting us closer to achieving our goals."

They say clearly -- "Poverty, disease, hunger, climate change, war, existential risks, and inequality: The world faces many great and terrifying problems. It is these large problems that our work at Our World in Data focuses on."

I think the large problem is the attack on liberty, which their goals do not address. Burt this much I can document from "official numbers."

( 5,669,541 global Covid deaths "officially" / 7,923,543,454 global population ) x 100 = 0.072 %

Less than one tenth of one percent "officially" Covid dead over two years worldwide, says the "official data." Divided by two for a "per year" tally. The pandemic has been a media-enflamed hoax.

Perhaps you disagree with the data? Perhaps you agree?
