Men are increasingly anxious, depressed, and struggling with suicide 1 . They are dropping out of school and opting out of the workforce, instead choosing to live in a virtual world playing video games and watching porn. A masculinity crisis is on our hands.
Growing up as a boy is hard. You experience bullying at school and rejection by girls, leading to hurt and heartbreak. 1 in 3 boys grow up without a father, and for those of us lucky enough to have one, we only spend 30 minutes a week in conversation with them, compared to 44 hours we will spend in front of a screen 2 . Without the tools and guidance to navigate our painful emotional states, we resort to escape.

Yet not one politician anywhere will touch the issue. Not even women. The demons behind this plague are some of the strongest there are.

Even though we might like to think that, we have to look at documented history. Long before that prostitution was legal and accepted by even wives. They had to work hard to compete. Contraception started in the 50s right? Before that we had thousands of orphanages. That means we are ALL in a generation of Porn and sex, in denial or not.
As for the internet, In reality it has helped cut down on Rape and other sexual abuse per capita when current population numbers are taken into consideration because these deviates have a harmless release rather than physical release for their primal monkey tendencies. You get rid of porn, and these deviates will go physical again. It would put women and children at grave risk.
Unfortunately changing human nature is just not that simple. Ever experience the natural sexual drive of the elderly when their mind starts to go back to primal tendencies because of dementia or Alzheimer’s? There is a whole lot going on in rest homes most have absolutely no clue about. And the homes cannot legally do anything about it. They have no clue who they are or where they are, but they naturally do it out of instinct.
We are just wired to breed and propagate to protect the species just like any other species. And it can never be rewired, it is implanted by default and built in permanently. It just is what it is, and it is impossible to change human nature. It would be like trying to make an Apple into a Cow. It will never be done. Funny how those who seriously chastise sex still enjoy sex so much themselves yet will not admit it.
There was a SF novel (I think by William F Nolan, but not sure) about a near future where the world is divided between normal people and people who do nothing but do legal drugs and watch porn. Can’t remember the name, but kinda where we seem to be headed.
