The World Economic Forum (“WEF”) held it’s Davos Agenda 2022, virtually, on 17 – 21 January 2022 with the “objective of orienting global leaders on the imperatives of the year ahead.” WEF continues, “the Davos Agenda will mobilise heads of state and government, business leaders, international organisations and civil society to share their outlook, insights and plans relating to the most urgent global issues.”
A session was held on Day 1 to answer the question: Covid-19: What’s Next?
“The emergence of the Omicron variant – and the reintroduction of national lockdowns, travel bans and quarantines – has reinforced the uncertainty of the Covid-19 pandemic. Join experts and leaders to find out the possible scenarios for Covid in 2022 and beyond,” WEF wrote describing the objective of the session.
This session was in question-and-answer format hosted by Francine Lacqua, presenter at Bloomberg Television. The “experts and leaders” who attempted to answer questions, unconvincingly we might add, were:
- Stéphane Bancel, Chief Executive Officer of Moderna;
- Richard Hatchett, Chief Executive Officer of Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness and Innovations (“CEPI”);
- Anthony Fauci, Director of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (“NIAID”); and,
- Annelies Wilder-Smith, Professor of Emerging Infectious Diseases at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.

Is 2022 actually the year that we go from pandemic to endemic?
04:54 Fauci: “We were fortunate that omicron although it is highly transmissible nonetheless is not as pathogenic … you have such a great deal of variability with new variants emerging.”
06:41 Wilder-Smith: “The evolutionary advantage to a virus it is more likely it will attenuate. That means will further be associated with less severe disease just based on the mere fact that a virus has as an advantage if you have high transmissibility but do not but you don’t also kill your hosts at the same time.”
07:48 Bancel: “Well I don’t think I have anything to add to those two infectious disease experts. What I can tell you is, from the vaccine maker standpoint, what we are first very happy [with] is that with such a change with a variant, like Omicron, that the vaccines are holding very well and feel those have proven to be very important … Soon we’re going to have to decide what goes into the vaccine for the fall of 2022 … The other piece we are working on is for 2023, is how do we make it possible from a societal standpoint that people want to be vaccinated? … Our goal is to be able to have a single annual booster [Covid, flu and RZV combined] so that we don’t have compliance issues.”
09:52 Hatchett: “I certainly don’t disagree with anything that Annelies and Tony have said … If I would hazard a guess … Omicron will sweep the world. It may, hopefully, sweep out other variants – you know, eliminate delta ideally – that wouldn’t be completely unanticipated. And I do think that we will get to a point this year where populations around the world either have been infected or had the benefits of vaccination.”
Author’s note: If you were ever in any doubt that you were unable to spot the village idiot, watch Fauci’s answer. You will either smack the palm of your hand to your forehead or laugh in disbelief.
What is the best-case scenario as per the daily prediction to achieve herd immunity?
12:22 Fauci: “That is going to be very difficult calculation because when you talk about herd immunity and you talk about the protection in the community where you combine those who’ve been vaccinated with durable protection and those who’ve been infected recovered with durable protection.
“However, when you have a virus in which the infection causes immunity that seems to wane rather quickly. In addition, when you’re dealing with a vaccine – that’s a an extraordinarily successful and protective vaccine – where the immunity also wanes … we’re dealing with a very complicated situation here that makes our classic definition of herd immunity very elusive.”
Author’s note: So, he doesn’t really know the answer then.
How can we bridge the divide between believers and non-believers?
14:53 Fauci: “You know, one of the things that that we, I believe the entire world is facing, but we certainly are facing it in a very, very disconcerting way in the United States is the amount of disinformation that is accompanying what should be a problem where everyone pulls together against the common enemy which is the virus.”
Author’s note: It depends what “the virus” is. If he asked, he may find out the common enemy, “the virus” you could say, is the medical / scientific dictatorship he promotes. Also, the wording of the question – “believers and non-believers” – are they acknowledging that Covid is a matter of faith rather than of science?
Is there a right way to encourage people to get vaccinated?
17:01 Bancel: “There’s always a better job that we can all do, starting from the [pharmaceutical] companies in terms of explaining the science, explaining the side effects, explain the long-term benefit and the risk-reward of getting a vaccine versus not getting a vaccine … But as Tony said, what is sad is all the misinformation that we are seeing every day – online, sometimes on TV – about the vaccine and what they do and what they don’t do is really sad.”
Author’s note: Yes, please do explain the ill effects of the Covid injections. The media is propagating a lot of misinformation and disinformation and there is a media black-out regarding the unprecedented sickness, injury and death these injections are causing. Another thing, what does “risk-reward” mean? Please, do explain.

We leave the Davos Agenda discussion at this question as the preceding text is sufficient to get a feel for the nature of the “experts” discussion without having to endure the entire session. And, it’s at this point we join a commentary by Robert Gouveia, host of Watching the Watchers.
