What if your car was at half power or less when you got stuck?

“..What if your car was at half power or less when you got stuck...”

Well, I guess, you’d only idle about 6 hours...or less.
Regardless, I don’t plan to find out, myself.

If we interpolate the findings of this test into the situation in Virginia, it’s clear this particular vehicle would have likely been fine. I lost 25 percent of the range over 12 hours while keeping the cabin toasty, so it stands to reason that over 24 hours I wouldn’t have lost much more than 50 percent.

It would still be good for about 18 hours before dying. In other words, a quality electric car holds up about as well for as long as an ICE car which has to run the engine continually to heat the cabin.

Not to worry.

The government will make sure that there is an EV charging station every quarter mile, on the highway and on local streets, and off-road.

And, you'll be able to borrow electricity from other EVs stuck on the same road as you.

Meanwhile, every EV owner will have to make sure that he EV has no less than 25% range in the battery before driving anywhere. BTW, a quarter tank of gasoline will drive my car for over 100 miles; let's see anybody get that distance on a quarter EV charge. And, my car (SUV) can drive 350 miles on a tank of gas, and then, I can refuel it in less than 5 minutes; let's see if any EV can compete with that kind of 'feature'.

No different then only having half a tank of gas. You’ll run out in both scenarios most likely.

“What if your car was at half power or less when you got stuck?”

then you use just the seat warmers, and go easier on the cabin heater.
