I have a 6120 that has a PPD from Xerox. I have used it since openSUSE 10.0 with no problem. There are two versions available. i find the older one gives me more options. Xerox only lists windows ppd's for your printer. I was once told by Xerox you can copy the windows ppd to Linux and it should work. Don't know about that for sure. Heres the ppd (windows)file for your printer from Xerox: http://www.support.xerox.com/go/resu...25&source=xcom -- Russ Registered Linux user #441463
It's https://www.support.xerox.com/en-gb/product/phaser-6125/content/108826 Windows 7 print driver. This driver uses the Add Printer Wizard and offers full support of the printer specific features for the Xerox Phaser 6125. Microsoft WHQL certified But it is in German!
Hope this helps.
I’m not going to pick your comment apart. But there you go again my friend. You insist on judging it like a rocket scientist would do when discussing high speed racing boat design.
When most folks are just plenty happy to jump into an innertube and lazily float down the river without added hardships. The important thing for them is to have that innertube hold air well so they get to where they are going.
Thanks! I need to look into that. I was a kid in the era of XP and Windows 7, and nothing's been the same since Windows 8 came along. I use Windows 10 these days and sometimes a Mac, but I've often wanted to turn back the clock. The old stuff was so much more reliable.
I was worried when the title appears to say notepad is gone....It’s one of my most used apps. Still on 10 but looks like notepad is actually improved on 11.

I’m not a techie and was looking at the specs to configure a system. Are any options they show wifi?
I understand that is how you think, however, if you are going to keep coming on Windows threads and promote "Wipe that sucker and make it Linux Mint..." "it is almost the same as Win 7..."Why they fight this concept I have no clue.." as the solution then you should at least allow that Linux has drawbacks (and I have tried every major distro, and I have it on two PCs), and that many simply have found that the typical raving promotion of Linux to come much short of reality, and that users like me can find Windows to be easily manageable and superior for our needs - despite its faults - and who thus counter the incessant promotion of Linux by fans as being The Perfect Answer.
My favorite reviser of Linux (and Windows) is Dedoimedo, since I find he is quite objective and not just a fan boy. Here he is on Mint 20.2 Uma - A mixed bag of good and weird - December 15, 2021, and here on Windows 11 will be the new Vista (or Windows 8) - September 22, 2021
Now it is time to sleep. Have a God night!
This new bloody virus OS keeps trying to install itself on my laptop, no matter what I do to keep it away.
I’ve tried every trick in the book, including the Registry Editor.
It. Still. Installs. Itself.
/no forced updates my eye
Same here, how do you mean protected?
I am trying to figure out how to protect my win 7.
Can you give me some advice, please. I like it as simple as possible.
Thnx
You're not alone; I know that's small comfort. It sounds like your system has been identified by Microsoft as a good candidate for testing Windows 11 and they think they're doing you a grand favor by installing it. Bassturds. Unfortunately I don't know of a silver bullet for that situation, at present.
Prayers up for your pup, and for you. Over the years I've had more felines than canines, but they've all been family, some have been soulmates, and so I totally understand your concern and anxiety. I put in a good word with The Man Upstairs every day on your behalf.
#27 In Windows 11: Start button> All apps> Notepad
right click on it and More> Pin to Taskbar
Also Pin to Start
More> Open file location
You can then create a desktop shortcut for the program.
The Pin to Start you can then find the program icon by clicking on the Start button but Microsoft then hides it in a short scroll bar which defeats the purpose of adding it... You can use your mouse scroll wheel to locate as well.
You can use the mouse cursor to hover over Notepad and drag to the top position. You can organize the apps but still some will disappear in the short scrollbar.
I have been threatening to install Linux on my old pc since they want a monthly fee, time to just knock it out. We have a Mac as our primary.
Get a copy of Norton 360 Premium and use their Anti-Virus, VPN, Firewall and other safety programs.
Get a copy of MalwareBytes, upgrade to Premium, and use their malware/adware/phishing etc protection, 24/7.
I use Norton Utilities Premium to defrag/optimize etc the several HDs I have in the office system.
I personally don't use the Norton LifeLock option.
I also use CCleaner Pro Edition to do work on the multiple HDs.
I’m not a techie either. It should say WiFi or WiFi capable... I’d have to get a techie friend to help me with ordering one of those units, so I don’t make a mistake.
The company has a phone number posted, so I think I will call next week and have one of their people walk me through it. Their specs are Greek to me, except for a few things, and I want to be sure I get what I want and don’t have to return anything.
Only Microsoft can release Software with less features and call it an upgrade
I’ve got a new machine I want to try that on... Where can I get installation media?
Is the forced updates brought back the blue screen of death.
Which I am seeing almost daily now.
Good idea. Pls let me know what you find out, MM.
Blue screen of death with no chance of recovery. I tried. I had to wipe the hard drive and start over.
Hey! Great! I have a few chores to do and then I will get back to you with the particulars concerning Linux Mint! :)
