This new bloody virus OS keeps trying to install itself on my laptop, no matter what I do to keep it away.

You're not alone; I know that's small comfort. It sounds like your system has been identified by Microsoft as a good candidate for testing Windows 11 and they think they're doing you a grand favor by installing it. Bassturds. Unfortunately I don't know of a silver bullet for that situation, at present.
