Of course, if the George Bush the Elder won in ‘92, he would have done just that.

Nixon had two terms as VP, then two as president, the second one unfinished.

The 22nd Amendment covers only the Presidency. Technically, someone could be Vice-President for any number of terms under different Presidents, then still have two terms as President.

Of course, the trivia question here is how long, in total, can a person be President under the current rules?

Not only is this a worthless vanity it can also be easily be answered with a casual reading of the constitution. Yes. In fact even a simple google search can answer you question. Unlikely but the answer is yes. Do you post lots of vanities and click bait? Do I need to invite HG to mock you and cause grief because I feel like I should.

Being VP has no bearing on how many terms you can serve as President, unless the President dies or can no longer fullfil his duties and the VP takes over. If a VP serves out the remainder of a President’s term, then it matters when he/she took over. Take over during the first two years, you can only serve one full term, if you win the next election. Take over during the final two years then you can serve two full terms, if you win both elections.

Have heard a President can serve 10 years. No more than half of a president’s term. More than 10 years? I’ve heard no. Definitely an interesting subject to research. Johnson could have been President for 9 years and two months if elected again, the last 14 months of Kennedy’s term and two elections.

Yes, Biden has 12 more months ... then Kamala for 10 years.

Maybe 9 years, 364 days

There is a slight problem with a Trump/DeSantis ticket. Florida is a must win for GOP to win the presidency. But according to the Constitution, if both candidates are from the same state, the electoral votes for that state are not counted. So if they win, the votes would be removed potentially putting them below 270. The only way around this is if Trump moved he legal residency to NJ for example.

Yep. The only limitations is that no one can be president for more than 8 years consecutive or not.

A VP could technically be president for 12 years, if his boss keeled over on the first day in office.

If the veep is elected, of course. If the veep takes over for a death or impeachment, such as Teddy Roosevelt for McKinley, he can serve the remainder of the elected president’s term AND two of his own terms.

It is according to if the Democrat Party wants them to be president or not. If the Democrat Party wants them to be president, they are. If the Democrat Party does not want them to be president, they are not. At one time we had laws to cover this. But the laws went out in 2020. Now it is whether the Democrat Party desires it. Or not.
