Ann Spurbeck was an "elegant grande dame" of the violin who played a record 52 years with the Memphis Symphony Orchestra while also playing on records by Elvis, Isaac Hayes and Al Green.

For most of her life, she interpreted music by Bach, Beethoven and the other greats of European classical composition. But she also was a part of the vital new music being created in the town she called home.

She performed on some of Elvis Presley's essential "comeback" recordings, after his 1968 television special, and she contributed expressive strings to Isaac Hayes' Oscar-winning "Theme from Shaft."

I can hear them too. Issac must have met his own “George Martin’ musically speaking. George Martin is the man who arranged most of the classical string work for later Beatles songs, such as “All You Need Is Love” or Day In A Life”.

As far as I have read, Issac never did learn how to literally write music using the common notation.
Obviously, he learned and communicated by ear. Most music teachers back then discouraged this kind of spontaneous learning.

Issac was sure a talented man—multi-talented. i recall some great Rockford episodes with Hayes and Garner (and i think sometimes Louis Gossett) really cutting it up. man, what great actors, black white or whatever, we had in those days.

George also re-arranged a song called “Scrambled Eggs” into “Yesterday”, for McCartney.
