Paul Craig Roberts
The Russians called a security conference with Washington and NATO. The Russians explained that security is a joint undertaking and that security only exists if every country feels secure.
The CIA responded with accusations against Russia handed to the CIA-puppet Biden regime and the CIA-puppet US media. The national security advisor read the script to us peons: Russia intends a false flag attack on its own troops so that it will have an excuse to invade Ukraine. The national security advisor is so stupid that it does not occur to him that if Russia wants to invade Ukraine Russia will. Russia needs no excuse, and there is no one in Washington or NATO who can do anything about it.
The Russians explained that they do not feel secure. They are constantly demonized, sanctioned on the basis of accusations in the Western press, and their president insulted. Military maneuvers are conducted on their borders, and the US Navy is in the Black Sea where it has no purpose to be. Washington broke its word given to Gorbachev and has not only moved NATO to Russia’s borders but also established missile bases in Poland and Romania. Washington has overthrown the Ukraine government in an attempt to evict Russia from her Black Sea naval base, established a puppet Ukrainian government hostile to Russia and to the Russian population of eastern Ukraine, and is gradually invading Ukraine economically and militarily with Americans on the ground training Ukrainians in the use of the American supplied arms.
On top of all of this, Washington and NATO are talking about making Ukraine, formerly a province of Russia, and another former province of Russia, Georgia, members of NATO which shows indications of ringing Russia with bases in preparation for war.
Russia explained that the situation is so threatening that it is unacceptable. During the long Cold War the two powers tried to reduce tensions by stabilizing the relationship, but in the 21st century Washington has disavowed all the arms control agreements that were accomplished in the 20th century, and has behaved aggressively toward Russia.
Russia explained that she will no longer tolerate the implied threat of US/NATO bases on her borders and most certainly will not permit Ukraine and Georgia to be members of NATO. Any move by the West in this direction will result in “dire consequences.”
As an old cold warrior as a member of the anti-Soviet Committee on the Present Danger and as a member of a secret presidential committee that helped Reagan end the Cold War, I can tell you that I am astonished that Washington has not heard what the Russians have, in all frankness, told them.
If the Committee on the Present Danger had heard the Russians say this in the 1980s, we would have told President Reagan to acknowledge their concern and reduce the tension.
Today the situation is so different that to an experienced cold warrior such as myself it is extremely scary. But the idiots in Washington, who face a far more powerful Russia armed with weapons that Washington can only dream about, have no fear. Washington, the collection of the most stupid and arrogant people in the world, is exposing human life to untold risk on the sole basis of Washington’s belief in its own omnipotence.
Washington is so lacking in omnipotence that its belief in it is a sign of insanity.
According to Russian news reports, Russia is moving four entire armies from the far east to the Western fount. These four armies, even without those already present in western Russia, are sufficient to instantly destroy any force NATO and the US can muster and overrun all of Europe in a few days.
Moreover, Russia can likely mobilize 10 million troops quickly, and China, whose president has stated publicly that China has more than a treaty agreement with Russia, can mobilize 50 million soldiers. NATO, for all the bluster of its idiot Secretary General, has zero prospect of withstanding Russia in non-nuclear war.
This means, and the Kremlin knows this, that to save face Washington would have to go nuclear. This would mean the total destruction of the US and Europe. They would cease to exist.
For Russia with its extensive anti-missile defenses and nuclear bunkers for 40-50% of targeted populations, the war would be disastrous, but Russia would survive.
Russia does not want such a war. Russia doesn’t want to destroy anyone, not even Ukraine. Russia has asked for a security guarantee. That is all.
If we experience Armageddon, it will be only because Washington refused a security guarantee to Russia.
My theory is that Russia’s central bank is 60% owned by their own government, and 40% by investors. The western banking establishment cannot call the tune there and the Soros crew was kicked out. Russia has a debt to GDP ratio of 19%. Personal income taxes are 13%... period.
They have one sixth of the earths surface and are loaded with mineral wealth.
Compare that to our country. Taxes are a nightmare and we are at best 130% of debt to GDP and that doesn’t even include SS and entitlements.
Everything is explainable by this. Our greed class wants to remove Putin so they can get control of the Russian bank, peg the Ruble to the Dollar, and let western oil companies run the oil and gas industry.
They tried a color revolution with Hillary in 2011, and now try to provoke fights hoping to hand him some kind of defeat that would drive him from office and let them install a western puppet as in the 90s. Everything makes sense through that lens, pushing the NGOS on them, pushing the homosexuality, attacking every Russian ally they can like Libya and Syria, pushing for a war in Ukraine, etc.
The bottom line, DC, the neocons, and the banking establishment passionately hate Trump and Putin, and are utterly enthralled with communist China. So despite the lamentations of DC, this is not about authoritarianism, human rights or any of that bunk. Otherwise they would treat China the same.
Then in that logic Taiwan belongs to the PRC. But we shouldn’t defend them either as that is an internal matter of China, right?
if you want to contain the home of communism today, surround DC... outpost of red China.
Heads up.
And Communist Russia...
In their deranged DC minds, we will have what they call a “short and sharp” war with Russia and use networking, high tech and whiz bang to teach them a lesson.
They are then supposed to accept defeat and slink home, and them Putin will be driven from office in humiliation. A color revolution installs the new guy and the looting begins.
Of course, nothing in Russian history would lead anyone to believe they would accept defeat and slink away. Over there it is an article of faith that any nation that attacks their home will be -utterly- destroyed within the hour.
That was 30 years ago. Communists there are about as gadfly as David Duke is here. You need to get out more.
I personally believe that US policy against Russia is formed inside China.
US leadership is outright owned by China, but yet, somehow, are dead set on weakening/breaking China’s partner, Russia.
That makes no sense unless a weak Russia is in China’s interest. Perhaps China wants to drive Russia into its sphere of influence, but why, given it already owns the most powerful country... the US, does China need Russia?
I think China wants to break up Russia and in the process grab Russia’s Far East. Right next to China’s largest corn producing province (Heilongjiang) is Russia’s largest soybean producing oblast (Amur).
If Russia and the US fight, China wins. If the US loses, China is the most powerful country. If Russia loses, China grabs Russian land.
I think the US is the tool China is using to attack Russia.
NO!
By the logic demonstrated with Russia/Ukraine example, yours example isn’t logical. Apples and oranges.
The years of scapegoating Russia took a toll. Idiots on the left hated Trump, so invented a boogy-man (Russia) and tied him to it. Then trashed them both.
We have idiots running the country. No NATO expansion! No NATO, period! Disband it. Fer gawds sake, Turkey is in it!
And pull our troops out of Europe. Especially Germany. Good Lord.
“A war would provide cover for the great reset. A war would consume the lives that the covid plandemic was unable to accomplish.”
And make more billionaires. Lots more.
Raytheon needs a new fleet of BMW’s.
Again showing your complete and total ignorance of Russia even while you routinely pretend to know WTF you're talking about. The Russian Communist Party wins on the regular about 20-25% of the vote. They're hardly anathema like David Duke (and David Duke, apparently, has a strong enough audience in Russia that he even visits there and takes photos with Alexandr Dugin). But you don't need the Communist party to run things when 60-70% of all government posts that can be appointed are filled with KGB-FSB or old Soviet military people, and these same "former" KGB and current FSB control most of the media and economy in Russia. It's not a coincidence that Putin helps communists everywhere, whether it's in Latin America, arming and supporting terror groups like FARC, or communist dictatorships North Korea with new weapons technologies, or China to harass and provoke South Korea, Japan, and everyone else.
The whole "Putin is not a Communist" argument only works if you only listen and pay attention to his speeches condemning gays and ignore everything he does. But hating the gays isn't that impressive. Even the Chinese make those sorts of comments, or attack "femininity" in their men. These countries need it, since the Russian military is filled with predatory homosexuals who occasionally get shot up by conscripts who can't take the abuse any more.
Basically, your entire Pro-Russian ideology revolves around a handful of his speeches, and not anything real. It isn't even real in Russia, where only 7% of the population bothers to attend church once a month, and where Putin's government routinely persecutes Protestants, Catholics, etc., in order to support the Russian Orthodox which is ruled by known KGB operatives, not men of real faith. Archbishop Kirill was spreading Liberation Theology under orders of the KGB before being promoted to his present rank.
Unfortunately, you are a troll, so no amount of truth telling on Russia will help you one little bit. But perhaps some reader will learn to not take your BS seriously, especially when you claim to be an authority on anything.
Russia and China have been close allies since Soviet times, even during the so-called Sino-Soviet split, which was a propaganda operation per defectors like Anatoliy Golitsyn.
If China wanted Russia out of the way, they could ally with the USA, their cash cow, instead of doing military maneuvers with Russia aimed at the United States.
Yes, the United States is after the majestic and amazing Russian economy, which has a GDP somewhere between Illinois and Florida. With Russia under our control, we will have a monopoly on their vodka resources.
