resident Biden is holding his first press conference of 2022 on Wednesday, January 19, the eve of the first anniversary of when he took office. The press conference comes as his presidency - and the country - is struggling amid the Omicron COVID-19 surge and rising inflation, and as his signature legislation, Build Back Better, is stalled in Congress.
CBSN will carry Mr. Biden's press conference live.
A CBS News poll released Sunday showed that 50% of Americans are "frustrated" by his residency so far, followed by 49% who are "disappointed" and 40% who are nervous. Just 25% said they are "calm" and 23% said they are "satisfied."
Mr. Biden's overall approval rating is 44%, a drop from the approval rating in the 60s at the start of his residency. His approval fell after the Afghanistan withdrawal, sagged as inflation and COVID cases rose and has not rebounded.
Wednesday's press conference will be the 10th of his residency so far, a number lower than his predecessors. The White House often points out that Mr. Biden frequently takes questions from reporters in less formal settings, such as during various televised briefings and upon departures.

Normal Presidents would do things like this in the evening. Joe will do it at 4:00 PM ET.
—
By 5 PM he’s ready for dinner and 6 PM it’s time for watching reruns of Jeopardy.
The Amen Chorus will sing Joe’s praises all evening and for several days after the so-called press conference. Biden’s handlers are very smart to have his TV times when very few people will watch live to see his bumbling and mistakes.
The propaganda media can then choose a few sentences where Biden looks good and broadcast these over and over again, framing the conversation to promote the Dem’s agenda. They provide cover for everything he does. Sadly, it works. Most Americans never see the real Biden.
I understand the authors’ choice of the word ‘resident’ instead of president.
But he’s in Delaware 1/4 of the time so even that is kind of a stretch.
Maybe just ‘dent?’
Approval rating at 44%. GTHOH. Who did CBS poll, there own newsroom?
I keep hearing/reading that this is his 10th., not that far behind others. I doubt he had ten that were “ordinary” in length or procedure.
Isn’t there a State of the Union speech coming up?
Can we get Jim Jordan to tear it up?
Watch it drunk? 😆
His press conference will be like looking at a Jack in the Box speaker you hear a voice but the lips don’t move.
Clever, but where’s the bit about Beau?
Good list. Missing “Whispers into the mic” and “Calls Harris president”
No thanks.
