I read that they’re going to stop counting daily deaths as of Feb 1.

Whoa, a couple of new states in another part of the country, UT and CA. Crazy.

Waiting for the peak and drop, hope it’s soon.

Who is they?

Tennessee and Alabama did not report. The death count is higher than this number, and this number is higher than same day last week.

I think this is good news and showing that the proverbial towel is being thrown in. Now that it appears that there is decreasing death secondary to omicron — there is no point in counting deaths.

Now that Covid is hurting the Democrats in the polls, time to stop counting.

South Africa Covid death count today 128.

Maybe the most attention getting item in the world . . . Russian case count decline has reversed upwards. No sign of it in deaths yet. Should not take long.

I agree — just like Obama with H1N1 (?2010)

Reported here:

https://twitter.com/andre__damon/status/1482069977826009092?s=21

“US Government to end daily COVID death reporting

A document issued issued Jan 6 by the US Health and Human Services tells hospitals they are no longer required to report daily COVID-19 deaths to the federal government starting Feb 2.”

“The HHS document calling on hospitals to end COVID-19 death reporting was published the same day as former Biden advisors published an article in
@JAMA_current
calling for the US government to “retire” the reporting of deaths from #COVID19 “

In 2020, every time someone with Covid so much as farted, they blamed Trump. Now they will simply make this “pandemic” vanish with a bureaucratic sleight of hand.

I totally agree — I think there will be a rapid “restoration” of normal and Biden will take a victory lap. I think it may be timed for maximum impact on the midterms — look for airline mask mandate to be lifted in September, and October surprise “End of all emergency covid restriction”. Cue band playing happy days are here again.

Of course, this should occur now or not later than Easter, but the political game will be played. What does your crystal ball say — it is probably better than mine when it comes to the politics of the situation.

2140 deaths.

Anyone want to take a guess what the 7 death average for Uttar Pradesh in India with a population of over 200 million and Ivermectin is and has been their primary weapon in this battle?

3!!!!

Total covid deaths: 23,000

Compare those numbers with ours and tell me there isn’t something truly sick and evil going on. In Uttar Pradesh, you show signs of covid, someone shows up at your door with Ivermectin. Here you shows signs of covid and seek Ivermectin and you can’t find a doctor to help you. The silence is sickening from the medical community in this country and worldwide.

Reading deep in the Twitter thread, there is a quote of a Trump policy moving reporting . . . rather than to CDC, to HHS. The idea was to strip CDC from the messaging nexus.

The suggestion is this reverses that. Reporting no longer has to go to HHS. It will resume to CDC.

Though most of the thread is outrage, among the left. It’s declared pathetic if there is not going to be a different reportee.

What you fail to mention, fearmonger, is that this number of deaths is 1/6 the level of their January 2021 peak, and that new cases in the last month have declined from 37K on December 12 to about 5.2K on January 14. Even deaths are substantially down today from yesterday.

Omicron has been radically less deadly even while infecting record numbers of people, and cases in South Africa had an extremely fast run-up followed by a nearly equally dramatic decline.

“Waiting for the peak and drop, hope it’s soon.”

A rolling series of Local and State peaks and drops, is already underway.

NYC and DC were early, but this week several States appear to have crested as well. NY State and Rhode Island are shown above, but also Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, (maybe Georgia), Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, (maybe Mississippi), Missouri, New Jersey, (maybe North Carolina), Ohio, Puerto Rico, and Vermont.

A lot of places really did not start surging straight up until around New Year’s, but they will probably crest en masse in another week or so.

This stuff has already been shot down.

The virus kills the old. India has life expectancy sub 70.

They are dead before the virus can get them. Might be useful to learn the life expectancy of that province. Maybe even younger.

India itself has low death counts since May. Not just one province.

Not entirely clear. The left is clearly broken into two camps now. Whereas they had previously been united. The one camp just saw Covid as something to maximize for political advantage. They’re the ones that wants to declare victory and go home. The other camp are committed Covidians. Believe it or not, there have been people shut in since March of 2020, like those Japanese soldiers that continued to defend tiny islands after WWII ended. And the very mandates and vax passes ensure no return to normalcy in blue controlled area.

Then throw in the possibility of a new variant and I wouldn’t put money on what things look like in the summer.
