That was until fish management crews captured two this fall during Ohio River electrofish bass surveys.

Electrofish bass survey? That means those two were in for a shock.

This is a 4 inch fish BTW.
I had a two-footer on my line just last week. Sadly he got away just before I could pull him aboard.

To add to your conjecture:
"These were the first captures in Ohio since 1939 when Milton B. Trautman captured seven in the Walhonding River
Something fishy going on with this story?
To: bgill
82 is old for a fish.
Exactly. That's like 541.2 in "goldfish years".

Where could they have come from. (two were captured in the Ohio River in the fall.) Rivers stop at state lines.

I had a two-footer on my line just last week. Depending on the fish, losing a 2 foot fish might not be a big deal. A 24 inch walleye is nice, but nothing to write home about. A 24 inch northern pike is jail bait in many locations..

“OUt here in CaCaLand this sort of “discovery” means that a once common critter is now put on the endangered species list”
In Nevada we periodically get plague level hatches of mormon crickets. They can get so bad that you can get build ups of smashed crickets on highways that are more slippery than snow. I have always wanted to gather a few jugfulls of these crickets and drop them off on the properties of super leftists in places like malibu and report them to the endangered species people

82-year-old fish. That’s almost as old as the 85-year-old gecko in the GEICO commercial.
