Police say a driver turned the tables on an armed carjacking suspect in North Philadelphia Monday night when he shot the suspect multiple times with a firearm he was licensed to carry.

Busy night in Philly last night. In addtition to the 18 year old attempted carjacker, in another incident a man was shot 32 times and another 16 times. About 4 or 5 shootings total, probably more.

For the same reason they harass people making legitimate gun purchases at Cabela’s or Scheel’s but never those making illegitimate gun purchased from car trunks in late night big city parking lots.

While it is too bad that the perp survived, I can think of a number of reasons for favoring smaller caliber ammunition including:

1. Lower cost = more practice time.
   
2. More accuracy in a high-stress situation = less collateral damage.
   
3. Less attention from the ammunition nazis.

Cases from the videos looked like 9mm. A double-tap with a .40S&W would’ve dropped him in place. A single to the chest with a .45 would be the most efficient.
