A curry a week helps keep the brain at its peak.
It’s been known for a while now that the blend of spices found in curry can lead to a wide range of health benefits from improved digestion to lower blood pressure. But the question remained whether this was all true for Japanese curry as well.
Although more or less the same food, the differences between Indian and Japanese curry can be quite stark, casting doubt on the latter’s nutritional benefits. A fair comparison might be the difference between Italian and American pizzas, wherein they’re the same basic idea but completely different dining experiences.
Previous studies by House found that Japanese curry can help suppress adverse reactions to air pollution and also prevent hardened arteries, but this latest find might prove the most helpful yet.
It builds on a study conducted Singapore that found a connection between eating curry and healthy cognitive functions.
The study gathered over 2,000 people aged 50 and up, divided into groups based on the frequency they eat curry and whether they’d eaten it that way over a long period (over one year) or short period (under one year).
Each subject was then given a DASC-21 dementia risk assessment and their relative scores were compared. Those who ate curry less than once a month were given an average base value of 1 for dementia risk, those who ate it once a month dropped to 0.834, then down to 0.754 for those who ate it two or three times a month, and even further down to 0.718 for anyone who ate curry four times a month or more.

For the record, Penzey is a liberal loon who goes out of his way to insult and demean conservatives in his business publications.
It’s a shame because they make some good stuff.
Thanks for pointing out what a loon Penzey is. It never occurred to me to check on his politics (or company politics) before buying. This will be a “one and done” for me.
Penzys went on my do not buy from list years ago. Far left and recently stated republicans are the greatest threat to the US.
if I only did what was politically correct I would be very lonely.
Penzey’s is a rotten Leftist company. Expensive, too. I get my Japanese foods at a local Japanese market and will add the curry to my rotation....it’s good.
Penzey’s has expressly said that they do not want conservatives, Republicans or Trump supporters business.
I have not purchased their spices since. Local Penzey’s outlet closed six months after the CEO’s statement.
Damn, I wish I had known this before buying. Maybe I’ll send it back with a note saying “You don’t want me as a customer. Well, I don’t want you as a supplier.”
Normally I do not believe in boycotts per se, but when a business directly tells me they don’t want my deplorable dollars I oblige
Curry with sweet chutney is good also so sweet curry should be ok.

Thats what I understand, its the turmeric.
AVOID Penzey!! Super anti-Trump creeps!
A little too salty for me, but I did find some other (Nanya) curry that for store bought is a very very nice red curry—tonight I am making a red cury and cod, (because that is the protien I took lout of the fridge this afternoon) I have a pac ket of red curry that I made and froze last week-—some finger root, pepper corns, mushroom and long beans and of course coconut milk. yum....
Dad liked to make curry dishes when we lived in Yokohama. Our maid, Masako would leave the house when he took over the kitchen.
:) :)
