Starbucks (SBUX) is expanding diversity and inclusion efforts that the coffee giant broadened back in October in 2020, which include a big financial commitment to diverse suppliers.

The Seattle-based company aims to achieve Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) representation of at least 30% at all corporate levels, and at least 40% of all retail and manufacturing roles in the U.S. by 2025.

The new plans include Starbucks boosting annual spending with diverse suppliers to $1.5 billion dollars by 2030. It will also launch a second cohort of its mentorship program for U.S. partners, and will reinstate its commitment to link those efforts to executive compensation.

White-owned companies will hire black faces to front for them. Put some blacks on their board of directors, without any authority or responsibility. They’ll just draw a salary for being a black face.

There is a history to that burnt-tasting Starbucks coffee.

Poor Italians in the old country who could not afford good quality coffee beans for their espresso bought inferior coffee beans and roasted them to within an inch of their lives. Later, those same Italians constituted the bulk of Italian immigrants to the U.S.

Snooty Americans who wished to appear sophisticated through drinking espresso — way cooler than drinking coffee — adopted the habit of over-roasting the beans. They stupidly thought that’s the way you’re supposed to do it. They then carried that habit over to ordinary coffee.

So now you know: Starbucks coffee is peasant food.

I have to be mighty desperate to go into a crappy Starbucks with their burnt coffee and gross sweet, fatty drinks. I kind of like Dutch Brothers or McDonalds.

I plan to diversify my coffe purchasing and consumption by drinking only coffee that is not sold under the name Starbucks and also avoiding other ridiculously overpriced coffe sold through pretentious chain stores.

Does “BIPOC” include Hispanics and Asians? If not, the 30% goal is much higher than their proportion of the general population.

Starbucks has the second most awful coffee I have ever tasted. This will likely make it even worse. I say second most because a nearby ‘coffee shack’ had even worse coffee. I’ve never been to either of them more than once.
