The Georgia Bulldogs are college football national champions for the first time since the 1980 season after defeating the Alabama Crimson Tide, 33-18, in the College Football Playoff National Championship on Monday.
Thirty-seven days ago, Alabama beat Georgia in the SEC Championship Game, 41-24, to secure the top seed in the College Football Playoff. The rematch was a defensive affair for most of the game before the offenses sprung to life late. With two minutes left in the third quarter, the Crimson Tide led 9-6 and neither team had scored a touchdown.
With fewer than nine minutes left in the game, Alabama held a 18-13 lead, but the Bulldogs found the end zone three times in the fourth quarter to pull away. The dagger was a 79-yard interception return for a touchdown in the final minute of the game that ended the Crimson Tide's attempt at a game-tying drive and extended Georgia's lead to 15.

I didn’t watch the game. I’ve given up on spectator sports, but it reminds me of an incident the last time Georgia won the national Championship forty years ago.
I was in Aspen skiing, and I was having dinner in a Chinese restaurant with some people staying in the same hotel as I was.
This was two weeks before the bowl game, and a woman from Georgia was sitting next to me going on about the bulldogs and Herschel Walker. I opened the fortune cookie and pretended to read, “Irish eat dogs for breakfast on new years day.”
She started screaming. Meanwhile on the other side of me was an Irish man from Long Island. He thought I was insulting Irish people. He made a disparaging remark about Jews.I am Jewish. I had to ‘splain it to him.
I think I saw her on TV at the game..............
Did DOMINION have anything to do with it?
Getting sick of ESPN who no one watches anymore having control of all these bowl games!
The Split-Screen replays were annoying as hell......................
This happened forty-one years ago. She was old then. I doubt that she’s still alive.
They showed a middle-aged woman on camera going nuts over what she believed was a bad ref call........................
It’s nice having no live TV really. They had me so used to adjusting my schedule by program dates and times.
She should head to Vandy, too..............
Only during baseball season.
