Not too long ago, the granddaughters stayed over, and I let the little one, who was 4, stay up a little “late”. When she went to say good-night to her sister, the older sister asked why she was up so late, and the little one said, “because Grammy is stupid.” Well, you can bet she’s not stayed up late at our house since then, and I did give her a little speech the next morning about how I was trying to do something nice for her and did not want to be called stupid, and it hurt my feelings..... Luckily, then are very sweet and well behaved, and never give us any trouble.
That was a strange answer on her part. Good Grammy for stopping the disrespect.

We just let them all stay up as late as they want. Heck, they are at Grandpa and Grandma’s house! They eat popcorn, watch movies, talk nonsense, and then fall asleep on the sofa around 8:30 p.m.. Grandpa then carries them all to bed, I tuck them in and pull the covers over them as they snuggle down and sleep sweetly all night long. LOL LOL LOL
In truth, that does not work. They can beat us in the staying up late game. I’ll wake up at four in the morning (as us older people often do), come downstairs and tell the older two to shut off the video games and go to sleep! They will then wake up around 10 a.m. and I will feed them breakfast (in bed), then they will play outside for a while, eat lunch, and take a nap.
Grandparents are supposed to spoil the grandkids!
