Thanks for the laughs. RIP.
Such a special show and personality.
Also Gilligan before Gilligan was Gilligan
RIP to both

Dwayne Hickman, the title character in TV's “The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis,” has died at 87 from ... He talked about getting the booster last Wednesday.”
Hiding celebrity deaths from the jabs is a game of whack-o-mole for Google and Facebook.
It’s no coincidence Bob Saget died on the same day. I understand they were planning something Big. /h
I didn’t realize until now that both Hickman and Denver were 24 year olds playing high-school students in the first season of that show. Not that unusual, though (e.g., much of the cast of Beverly Hills 90210, mid-20s Matthew Broderick as Ferris Bueller, etc.);
Memory Eternal!!!!
I was in the 1st grade through 7th grades while that show was on. I keep thinking I was getting a glimpse of what college life would be.
Also good in Cat Ballou.
It is amazing how some people with Parkinson’s live to be in their 80’s and stay active.
We have one BIL in his 80’s, and good friend who will be 80 this year.
Both are very active and the only real impediment is talking and lower energy. So we text.
One guy’s wife is a physical therapist in practice and as an instructor at a major college has basically put a hold on his increasing P symptoms for a decade now.
The biggest loss is their ability to carry on a good phone call at their end. So we text.
Every friend or relative with Parkinson’s had been on statins.
a very funny show, especially with Maynard
It’s funny to think he was already 87.
May he Rest In Peace.
That was the best tv show ever. Nothing will ever beat that zany cast of characters and the droll comedy, the innovation of Dobie narrating the show, the interplay of Dobie and his many girlfriends all swooning over him, the poor unrequited Zelda, the great hapless parents. Even the hilarious stage names — whoever would have thought up “Maynard G Krebs”?
Dobie Gillis (Dwayne Hickman)
Maynard G. Krebs (Bob Denver)
Herbert T. Gillis (Frank Faylen)
Winifred Gillis (Florida Friebus)
Zelda Gilroy (Sheila James Kuehl)
The number of cameo appearances in Dobie Gillis is amazing: Tuesday Weld, Warren Beatty, Ron Howard, Bill Bixby (My Favorite Martian), Marlo Thomas (That Girl), Susan Bay Nimoy (Leonard Nimoy’s wife), Thelonious Monk
R.I.P. One of my favorite shows as a young teenager.
Dobie’s father, Herbert T. Gillis, repeated the line, “I was in W-W-II—the big one—first sergeant, with the good conduct medal!”
He was on Wagon Train just last week !
I don’t think anyone under the age of 70 would know either him or Dobie Gillis or the Bob Cummings Show...
RIP
I just assumed that was the guy who played Gilligan
Dobie Gillis trivia:
Does anyone know what The “G” stood for in Maynard G Krebbs?
As Maynard explained,
“Walter”
RIP.
