I see quite a lot of anger, resentment, and even talk of violence here on FR and it saddens my heart. And I am aware that there are other places on the internet (that I would not venture) that are a good deal worse. While reflecting on this, these words of Jesus came to my mind:
Matthew 22:36-40
36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
All depends on the kind of liberal they are. Most I liberals I ignore and the dangerous ones I stay far away from. Acquaintances, friends and family, whom I love, yet I acknowledge to myself that I find each somewhat less trustworthy of having the capacity to make wise decisions because of their compulsion of embracing liberal, progressive or such ideas, ideals and politics. For some of us it is easier to get along with loved ones, by not allowing them the knowledge that I reject, dislike, hate or disagree with their ideology and I can still be civil and or polite to and or with them, if they are agreeable to do so. Other than this, I walk away, ignore them. Their loss not mine.
> Are you a liberal?
Uh, no. I’m probably closest to tradionalist conservatism. I like the writings of Russell Kirk and have read a bunch of his books, both non-fiction and fiction (I highly recommend his ghost stories and novels.) I am firmly opposed to radicals either on the Left or Right.
> And pretty sure Jesus wasn’t talking about slightly heated anonymous language occurring between voluntary participants in an internet debate.
That’s not what I’m talking about either. I regularly see people on FR talking about killing or wanting people to be dead, etc. On a couple of instances I’ve even seen posters talk about mapping out where liberals lived in their neighborhoods so they plan which houses to take out first. This sort of thing is more than “slightly heated” language. And, as I said, I know there are places that conservatives (many are really Right wing radicals, in my opinion) gather that are much worse than FreeRepublic in this regard.
Feel free to link to any of these discussions. Do people talk about the need to "fight" the left? Hell yeah. If you take your Christianity to mean you should, as I said, pray for the people who are loading you into cattle cars, then I guess I ain't your kind of Christian.
Yeah, well, I don’t really care where it comes from; I know it exists. As a husband and father, it is my duty to protect the weaker (and meeker) from that evil. You’re free to behave in any manner that assuages your conscience.
Maximilian is at a level many of us can only dream of. They would hit him, sick the dogs on him, he would turn the other cheek, he wouldn’t respond in kind. Sacrificed his life for a young family man. They finally dispatched him in the starvation bunker with an injection as he was still singing days in.
He's a troll, and this is his opus.
He named himself after the Chinese unicorn, as if no one would notice.
He calls Freepers "f****** lazy" and worse.
He's butthurt that he can't post his lies here anymore without his past words convicting him.
Agreed.
But Qilin wonders how many Freepers are actually "Christian"?! You know, like the libelous articles targeting conservatives the MSM attempts to paper over us every Christian holiday...
Oh ffs, he's a common troll, he bragged about having been here at FR before under a different name...
