St. Lucie County Deputy Clayton Osteen died Jan. 2 and Deputy Victoria Pacheco took her life “in the wake of Deputy Osteen’s death,” Sheriff Ken Mascara said in a statement on Tuesday.
The sheriff’s office responded to a call just before midnight on New Year’s Eve and found that Osteen, who was off duty, had tried to kill himself. His family removed him from life support Sunday, Mascara said.
On Tuesday, the sheriff’s office learned of Pacheco’s suicide, although the sheriff didn’t specify when she died. The name of the child wasn’t shared.

Are they hiring unstable folks for LEO these days ?
This story isn’t passing the smell test.
A widow decided to leave her baby to fend for himself or herself. Investigatively (sic) speaking, I would like a second opinion on the entire matter.
It takes 6 months to graduate police academy.
It takes 2 years to get a license to do hair and nails.
Two months ago we had a situation in Pasco county here in Florida. 3 miles from me, came upon the main road closed. Story is LEO had car accident with another vehicle and then died from a gunshot wound on the scene.
They constantly cover for their own. Never did the news report the WHY or much at all about the WHAT or WHO.
Much to that story, that I and the public NEVER HEARD.

My county.
Next door neighbor is Port Saint Lucie’s Police Chief.
I will eventually find out the specifics for real.
P.S.L. is the largests city in this county.
man George,
Pasco Always has some kind of crap going on.
This report is not right, something is very wrong with it. More like a murder, suicide.
This doesn’t add up...hope they got a good detective...
He could have been suffering from PTSD, and she from post-partum depression. They could have set each other off and he went first ...
I think it was made to look like a double suicide. Just doesn’t make sense.
You can see in the child some of the moral argument against suicide; its often just very selfish.
NEVER, EVER TELL THE CHILD ABOUT THIS CRAP!!! NEVER!
Two day gap between pulling the plug on him him and the report on her. Was she around while he was in the hospital, and if not, why did no one notice.
Yup. That sort of thing doesn’t always show, I know from sad experience. But the first thing I thought seeing Deputy Osteen’s pic was “Veteran of the Psychic Wars”...
(Blue Oyster Cult reference, for those unfamiliar. Incredibly powerful song.)
