The Chrysler brand is ditching gas engines and going to an all-electric lineup. And Japan’s Sony Group Corp. plans to jump into the electric-vehicle fray, creating its own car unit.
Stellantis said in July that it plans to spend more than $35.5 billion through 2025 to release an array of new plug-in models. Ford has said it would spend $30 billion on electric vehicles through 2025. GM has said it plans to spend $35 billion by the middle of the decade to introduce 30 plug-in models globally and has set a 2035 target date for phasing out gasoline- and diesel-powered vehicles from its showrooms.
The F-150 Lightning is priced between $40,000 for a base model and the high $90,000s for the high-end models.

And that is coming from a guy that has an EV.
Imagine being stuck on an icy road in VA with nothing but EV’s. They’d still be there.
The stick marked “millimetres” in the cartoon has the tick marks every quarter between numbers, which is VERY unmetric.
True. However, there is a big complicated battery and LOTS of computer chips so maybe, just maybe, something will go wrong there. Not to mention running out of power at some unfortunate time.
Just bought a 2021 Toyota Tundra. New. Big V8. Figure it will last me into my 80s.
My house is powered by 110 volt power. Can I re-charge one of these vehicles with my 110 power?

No, but you can recharge an electric scootmobile of some kind, drive it to your car parked out on the street out of view of your Karen neighbors, and get the best of both worlds.
Obviously there was no Market Research done prior to these announcements.
I can’t think of anyone I know who wants to purchase such a vehicle.
And where is the infrastructure to support such a pipe dream?
Is there a plant to build massive amounts of Nuclear Power Plants in the next 10 years?

Takes hours to charge so you will need overnight stations which will be a security and capacity issue. Charging overnight at home in a garage works but not for those in urban areas with no garages. Te last 10% of charge takes the longest time. And then there all the lomg haul trucks that need to be replaced. I think EV’s will be here but the market will be limited too less than 50% of personal vehicles. That’s still big.
The states and feds. will also see their fuel tax revvenues cut and try to find a way to tax EV recharging. That will make them more expenxsive than gas or diesel.
The $25,000 cost od a new battery will match maintenance dosts of gas cars too.
But if i were going to live another 30 years I’d buy me a used Tesla Plaid to go with my Jeep SRT that’ll last forever.
Remember when Toyota bought back all the pickups because the frames prematurely rotted out?
One of my clients won the contract to pick them up at designated holding areas and transport them to the salvage yards where they were crushed. He had about 7-8 auto transport trucks and ended up buying many more and hired lots of drivers.
It took about 3 years all together
He made millions and retired at age 49.
It started when they called him to transport some trucks and they liked working with him.
Yes you can but it is recommended to plug into your 230 volt stove or dryer wire for faster charging
Fast chargers charge in 15 minutes and gives you a 200 mile range for that 15 minutes
The group that owns Red Lobster and Applebees and others are planning on putting chargers in their restaurants to attract EV business and charge the card while the people are eat there. The free market and capitslism will make it work

Does anybody know how ell those electric vehicles did in Virginia during their last snow storm?I’m sure they didn’t do well much earlier than the vehicle powered with Gasoline or diesel fuel.

Level 1 charging uses a common 120-volt household outlet. Every electric vehicle or plug-in hybrid can be charged on Level 1 by plugging the charging equipment into a regular wall outlet. Level 1 is the slowest way to charge an EV. It adds between 3 and 5 miles of range per hour.

Tesla’s tech page says their ev heater will work for 72 hours on a full charge of the car is not moving
EVs use a heat pump for their heat and ac and they use very little power.
That’s assuming Build Back Better passes, with its huge payouts for union driven EV manufacturers.
BBB being dead may change their interest. Dealers dictate, and don’t want to close their profitable service centers (EVs having far lower repairs, due to far fewer moving parts).
