Anguish of the men whose babies were aborted against their will: Of course, it’s a woman’s right to choose. But we rarely hear from the would-be fathers whose dream of parenthood is taken out of their hands

When his girlfriend told him she was pregnant, Jean-Paul Noel-Cephise was elated. Although he was only young and the pregnancy was unplanned, he had always wanted to be a dad and felt confident they would make great parents.

After all, he had a good job, was financially stable with his own home and they were madly in love.

‘I’d had a happy childhood and couldn’t wait to recreate it with my own child,’ says Jean-Paul. ‘I know some young men would’ve been horrified at the prospect of having a baby but I really wasn’t — quite the opposite.’ Sadly, though, his partner wasn’t on the same page.

‘At first I thought she was worried I didn’t want a baby,’ says Jean-Paul, now a college lecturer. ‘So I went into overdrive, reassuring her how much I loved her.’

But after weeks of trying to persuade her, Jean-Paul was devastated when she had an abortion. Years later, he still wrestles with his feelings about it.

‘Ultimately, I had to respect that her decision was final,’ he says. ‘Even though it happened a long time ago, I’ve lived with the guilt and grief ever since.’

Despite the fact that as many as one in three women will terminate a pregnancy, it’s still very much taboo, with few daring to speak out — as illustrated in a recent Femail article where a mother and daughter revealed their differing attitudes to their own abortions.

And it’s even less likely men will dare to open up about their experience of abortion, which is largely considered a women’s issue. It’s often assumed men are either absent or relieved for the pregnancy to be over.

However, Jean-Paul, now 51, is determined to raise awareness of the simple truth that men can also struggle with the experience, even long

I hate this part of the narrative “of course it’s a woman’s right to choose.”

Yes. She could have chosen to abstain until she was ready to have a child with a man she trusted.

Men should also abstain until they’re ready to be married to a woman they want to raise their children. Best way for a man to avoid this heartache.

I went thru it in 1973; never got over it with my would-be fiancée, at Sloan-Kettering in NYC. We never got married after that trauma. I still miss her.

Abortion is Satan’s tool to destroy the family and depower and belittle the father figure. It worked. Look around at society.

I’ve long said if she has choice of taking to term, he has choice of whether to accept responsibility.

I have very strong feelings about the issue of abortion.

While it is true the woman is having the opportunity of continuing a pregnancy or not, it is also an opportunity for the father of the child to have a say in whether abortion is an option.

Many fathers do not want the woman carrying his child to abort. It is their right to object and be heard.

I think we should have a law or laws clarifying this situation. No one should face aborting their child if they do not want to do so.

So what to do. I think every person who wants sexual intercourse and nothing else should be temporarily sterilized until such time as they decide a child between them would be perfect.

Happened to me while I was married. She got pregnant (by me I hope) and aborted it without ever telling me.

I found out about it during the divorce (she was also unfaithful).

I can’t even stand to look her in the eye now.

“A woman’s right to choose” is, in practice, “A mother’s right to choose” to murder her baby daughter or baby son between conception and birth.

This is first and foremost a crime against the babies that the mothers are murdering, but also, it is a crime against the fathers of the babies who are told that they have no legal right to protect the lives of their baby daughters and baby sons between conception and birth.

The future of humankind, and the civilization it built, depends on reversing this.

“He still wrestles with his feelings about it.”

May the Lord choose our mate. Wait on the Lord.
Greatness.

That doesn’t protect the baby’s life.

Of course you don’t hear from them. But don’t be so stupid as to believe they don’t exist. This was a subject of prolife conferences as early as the 90’s. Healing Visions at Marquette University addressed this issue at some length, but unless the “media” reports it, it doesn’t exist.

Stonewalling and the silent treatment here. Can’t look at her.
Solutions?
How does forgiveness come in here??

Had a friend in the Army that killed himself when his wife killed their child because she didn’t want a baby while he was deployed.
When I found him he left a note, “You killed me when you killed our baby. I hope it was worth it, enjoy your life alone.”

Fathers are treated as paychecks instead of parents and portrayed as being inept and uncaring by default.

That makes it easy to disenfranchise fathers from parenthood from conception forward.

I’ve thought about that a lot. She has shown no remorse so I don’t see why I should have to forgive her.

As for her immortal soul, God will judge that, not me.

But while we’re both here on Earth, she can go to hell.

Please read my statement again and don’t try to debate me. The issue is not the choice (at least not in this thread), it is the imbalance.
