Hmmm. I’ve done one for my mother but I guess in a hospital it’s different. Sad. But yes, the hospice route seems the way to go. Just get your loved one out of the hospital.

Very sorry to read of this trouble. It is too late to administer paste ivermectin because he cannot swallow anymore AND a hospital will not let you do that anyway....although if he were able to swallow it, I would give it to him without telling anyone, in order to save him.

100% True. I do this for my work (estate planning). Too many people find out after it’s too late just how crucial this type of properly drafted document (coupled with other health care docs) is.

I realize you just found out and probably in a bit of a panic.
But consider this……..
1) Ivermectin is ok for use in mild cases of Covid and might help with reducing symptoms. In severe cases and where Infection has set in, Ivermectin is useless. It’s not an antibiotic or anti inflammatory.
You probably don’t have his latest lab results and don’t know his present condition.
2) Who has Power of Attorney? The kids might not want you assistance. They have all the say.
3) Hospice is NOT in the business of saving lives. It’s insane to even suggest using Hospice to help a Covid patient.
Hospice requires a Prescription and recommendation from a Doctor. Then the Doctor at the Hospice center has to accept the Patient.
Hospice has a “No Code” policy……if you have a cardiac arrest there, they let you go in peace.
Not sure what lunatic stared with the Hospice thing as a alternative.
4) You said your friend is intubated. He therefore has a feeding tube inserted. In order to feed him a special mix that looks like mush, or pudding is fed to him through that tube.
So sneaking him beer, chicken or tablets isn’t gonna work.
I would keep in contact with his kids and try to guide them the best you can. Coming here for advice at this time will result in some good advice but will also have ridiculously idiotic advice. Like sneaking him Ivermectin (which would be a felony) or calling Hospice.
JFK Hospital is not in Iselin, NJ. ( Iselin is a section of Woodbridge Township, NJ) It’s on James St. in Edison Township, NJ. JFK is owned by Hackensack Meridian Health Care. It’s probably locked down ( at least for Covid-19 patients) and if he is on vent they are not going to allow any family to visit. I grew up in Edison and spent 34 years as a Firefighter there.( 5 volunteer, 29 on the career side, retired since September) I am also friends with several of the Paramedics who work for them. You need to find a Dr. who has access/ privileges there who is willing to treat him. Not going to be easy. Prayers up. Just finding a Dr in NJ willing to prescribe Ivermectin or anything else is difficult at best. I’m so sorry for your situation.

Your lungs get filled with crap, and you have to cough it out. Took a month to clear my lungs, but coughing did it.
You can’t cough on a ventilator, and they know that.
They don’t want you to be able to clear your lungs.
