WASHINGTON (AP) - As the COVID-19 omicron variant surges across the United States, top federal health officials are looking to add a negative test along with its five-day isolation restrictions for asymptomatic Americans who catch the coronavirus, the White House’s top medical adviser said Sunday.
Dr. Anthony Fauci said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is now considering including the negative test as part of its guidance after getting significant “pushback” on its updated recommendations last week.
Under that Dec. 27 guidance, isolation restrictions for people infected with COVID-19 were shortened from 10 days to five days if they are no longer feeling symptoms or running a fever. After that period, they are asked to spend the following five days wearing a mask when around others.
The guidelines have since received criticism from many health professionals for not specifying a negative antigen test as a requirement for leaving isolation.
“There has been some concern about why we don’t ask people at that five-day period to get tested,” Fauci said. “Looking at it again, there may be an option in that, that testing could be a part of that, and I think we’re going to be hearing more about that in the next day or so from the CDC.”
Fauci, the nation’s top infectious diseases expert, said the U.S. has been seeing almost a “vertical increase” of new cases, now averaging 400,000 cases a day, with hospitalizations also up.
“We are definitely in the middle of a very severe surge and uptick in cases,” he said. “The acceleration of cases that we’ve seen is unprecedented, gone well beyond anything we’ve seen before.”

One of the fundamental tenants of medicine is do not test unless it is something that will alter the course of care
Screening is not testing
Accordingly with a virus that
1. Appears to have mutated into noting
2. Has no apparent increase in death or hospitalization
3. Appears to infer superimmunity on more dangerous strains
4. Is asynptomatic
There is absolutely no medical rational to test people.
Dr Fauci again proves that he does not practice medicine. But politics.
Got 5 friends/family members with it right now. No one having a problem. Don’t get tested, just get well and stay off the govt radar.

If you don't have symptoms, you ain't sick! (and the "test" won't detect it!)
So we need a test for nothing using a test kit that gives false positives? Gotta get those numbers up somehow.
I DEMAND that perfectly healthy people routinely be given FREQUENTLY repeated tests for the flu. After all, that makes as much sense as routine testing the asymptomatic for COVID-19.

Two points
1 - who is making money on these test and how much goes to Democrat supporters?
2 - Since like ballots it is not what the test reveals but who is reporting the results.
My guess is that by now everyone has been exposed to the virus and so everyone will be tested positive and they will use these results to keep control of our nation.
Sadly, there’s tens of millions of morons that wake up each morning to see what the new guidelines are that they will dutifully obey….

Grasping for “scientific” mysticism for the “asymptomatic”... to expand the “tested” group to anyone walking around who are not infected, or sick or even mildly sick and their system is taking care of it.
All to stretch out and sensationalize the “unknown, only known to us... “scientists” “.... utter crapola. Just as they made up the whole cloth media demonization of yet another coronavirus which has not cooperated and gone ahead and mutated both the s- Protein spike as well as the entire virion. The way that all viri have been studied to do— become more infectious, and far less lethal, the natural tendency of an organism which will survive a very long time by spreading all over and NOT killing the hosts.
It’s OVER. Fauci and the CDC are like a Weather Channel trying to milk out the most “fear” out of ridiculous graphics and reporting of say... “hurricanes” (now ascribed to global warming in ignorance of the history and facts obscured).
This is medieval behaviour— for the stupid peasants. Peasants are getting harder to find, so— clamp down on the information tech, or better yet, deliver the messages of propaganda in Latin.

I wish I could be frikin clueless in my job, yet rake in over $400K per year.
I don’t recall the scientific method including any provisions for pushback from the public.
