I turn 60 this year. I blessed that I have enough to self-fund myself through 65 and retire then. I may just do it. I have until November to decide.

I planned to work as long as the job was enjoyable. The covid nazis at work have really sucked the joy out of it. Now, it is just punching the clock until the youngest is done with school.

Kids are out of school. We have no payments. The university is not in any position to lose me and a company is hiring across the street. The school wants boosters in MY database by Feb 1. I don’t think they thought this one out. When you are having trouble filling jobs, the last thing you should do is mess with people.

I’m just working for the insurance until my wife is eligible for Medicare. She retired this year.
I told her “I’ll retire when I have something to do”. A journey without a destination is just wandering. Right now I have no destination.

I wholeheartedly agree with your statement that a journey without a destination is just wandering.
If the last two years have taught me anything, it's about what's important. My job isn't important. There are far bigger things that are, that I've been setting my focus on.
Those things are far bigger and more important than me. I've started on two of them in the past year and my heart for helping others has just grown and grown.
The hard part will be giving up the paycheck and the benefits. I have to reconcile doing that in my mind. On the other hand, being able to do this is exactly why I've been preparing and saving...
