Nope!

For Android, Go to the Play Store and download/install “Tracker Detect”.

Can’t shoot somebody to stop theft.

” I doubt apple would help with this, but someone will build a device which detects the RF signature of these things and let you know if one is following you around.”

Or you could. use the free app.

“Your iPhone can make an unknown AirTag beep to help you locate lt.”.

I didn’t see that in your link.

I saw a post from a guy who is a mechanic on a big police fleet. He said Crown Vics were good for 300,000 miles and the Dodges are done at 150,000.

I've owned both.

The CV, even with the police package, had less than 250 HP under the hood; it's an under-powered car, except for possibly the grandmother who drives it to church on Sunday mornings. The Dodge Charger starts at 305 HP (with the V6) and goes as high as 470 HP (with the 6.4L V8).

The bottom line is that Ford never designed its car to be driven aggressively; Dodge did.

Ford might be able to boast about the high mileage its cop car attained, but there is no shortage of videos of police chases throughout SoCal where the CV could never overtake the perp; the high mileage of the CV came with a high price.

In my opinion, most cops are grossly unqualified to chase any more than 20 mph above the speed limit so it was probably a great “feature” for the public.

The air tag can only communicate via blue tooth with a range of about 10 feet. It has to relay thru a nearby Apple phone. The air tag doesn’t even have its own GPS, but it tells the nearby Apple phone to give out the GPS location of the cell phone.

Police pursuit skills are a different subject.

But you can't have a chase going on where the perp can endanger bystanders for no other reason than the cop's car is too slow to overtake the perp's car.

(And while I understand that the perp can show up with a high-end sports car that even the Dodge Charger can't outpace, the fact remains that the CV simply didn't have enough under the hood to overtake most cars on the road.)

This is a seriously growing problem….the thieves use these to track high-end vehicles to their driveways and steal them later (or sometimes mug the owners when they get out).

Check out IPhone info to learn how to find an Apple device that is not registered to you (it’s usually looking for a connection). Air Tag is an Apple device and Find my IPhone is a miracle! Also, I think these are bluetooth devices and any phone with bluetooth can find something that is looking for a connection. If you don’t recognize it, check under your car…

I’d much rather take my chances with crooks occasionally getting away vs. civilian carnage due to crashes by unqualified cops in overpowered police cars. They had high perf Mustangs and Camaros here in Indiana but phased them out for a variety of reasons (too small inside for fat cops) but also a lot of wreckage.

Downhere they buy them auction and sell them to cab companies.

The cure for this is not to be hung up on competitive status symbols and drive something that runs great but looks like crap. Something no one would want to steal. Helps deter the bums from hitting you up in the Walmart parking lot too.

Yeah I’ve ridden in several CV taxis in Florida and Vegas with over 400,000 miles.

It's not the crooks getting away that was a problem. (They still can't outrun the radio.)

The problem was that the chase would go on for miles with a line of cop cars behind the perp car, simply because the CV never had enough HP to get out in front of it. And because the pursuit took forever and day, there could be a string of collateral damage behind it. (Turn on any COPS episode from 10 or more years ago.)

I think the LE argument for the Chargers was the same as the argument for better firearms some 20 years before: we need at least as much as the bad guys have.

“My 66 Jimmy is guarded by a Winchester 30-30——just not seeing the problem?”

I heard that Baldwin’s pistol fired on its own but never heard about a 30-30 doing that.

Saw a video where a guy out in the sticks had some things stolen from his property. He put Apple air tags on a few things he figured would get taken if the theif came back which they did.

He tracked them to their house and called the sheriff. Ended up getting everything back plus money for a damaged security camera as well as an apology.

My car(s) can’t really be stolen. They’d have to carjack me - which is where the exit wounds cone in.

But to your point, yes, you can’t kill people for stealing stuff. Not a desirable outcome even if it were right.
