There is a countermeasure, a device that detects air tags on your personal items including vehicles.

Thanks. The Jeep Grand Cherokee Hemi fits in the garage so I'm less worried about it. The F-150 however doesn't fit so it has to sit in my driveway. THAT is the one I'm worried about now. With truck prices being sky high right now they're getting stolen left and right. Uggh. See what this thread did to me? It's made me paranoid my vehicles are gonna get stolen.
Air tags can be cheap extra “insurance”.
So, it looks like if one of these things is out of range of your iPhone, other iPhones will pick it up and forward the location and identifier to apple and then they forward it to your device.
If apple wanted to, they could determine whose airtag was used in a theft. I’ll bet they fight that.
If this stuff ever goes down, half the population will not be able to find their keys and other stuff. That would be amusing.
They would "grab" a .45 hydrashock - and make a mess of my driveway.
Just downloaded Tracker Detect for android
LOL
“How does one find an Apple Air Tag on their vehicle?”
Good question. People have a legitimate interest in knowing when they are being tracked. I doubt apple would help with this, but someone will build a device which detects the RF signature of these things and let you know if one is following you around.
Suspicious wife?
“How does one find an Apple Air Tag on their vehicle? “
By looking where he put it.
Your iPhone can make an unknown AirTag beep to help you locate lt.

I saw a post from a guy who is a mechanic on a big police fleet. He said Crown Vics were good for 300,000 miles and the Dodges are done at 150,000.
So my ‘08 is good for another 100,000 miles.cool.
Has he got a jealous wife?
tracking? WTF? My 66 Jimmy is guarded by a Winchester 30-30——just not seeing the problem?
Airbags use Bluetooth AND UWB greatly extending range. The Airtag app gives you more precise and user friendly location services.
The big thing is that the Tile has to be within Bluetooth range of a phone using the APP and the user has turned on permission for unlinked Tiles to communicate back to the user.
The Airtag communicates back to the owner through iPhones by default, no app required.
So, there are MANY more phones within range and communicating locations.
The chance of having a phone with the Tile app installed and permissions turned on within Bluetooth range is small.
The chance of an Airtag which also uses UWBA being within range of any iPhone is very high.
“Don’t believe me? Google it.”
I googled. Didn’t find anything except OnStar.
Go to the Play Store and download/install “Tracker Detect”.
Tracker Detect for Android.
A hacker is going to set them all off at once; it will be a TikTok challenge.
