This is a great technological accomplishment. Cancer got my larynx three years ago and you'd be surprised how one takes their voice for granted. Got a robot-sounding Servox device I despise, an electric writing pad called a Boogie Board that erases at the touch of a button and just recently received a Samsung Galaxy Tab that pronounces what I type. Cool stuff but still a lot of work to be understood.

But that's a small sacrifice to be cancer-free with everything else functioning. I always was one to think much and speak little anyway...and one could always be worse off like this ALS fellow. Told my doctors to get the voicebox from the next idiot rock singer that offs himself because there's been a lot of them. Waste not...

Hi MikelTackNailer, Congratulations on your successful battle with cancer. I lost a close buddy and bandmate 6 years ago to larynx/esophageal cancer and so I am cheered to hear that you are cancer free now.

Yes, this device is a wonderful achievement and I believe that as time goes on we will make even further great advances in technological communications for those who have lost the biological means.

I like your idea of harvesting a deceased rock singer's voicebox. Knowing the generally foolish things that have emerged from those voiceboxes in their original owners, having one in your possession would be a substantial improvement in the quality and sanity of its output. :-)
