Roscosmos, Russia’s state space agency, launched its Angara A5 rocket as part of a demonstration on Monday, NASASpaceflight.com reports. The spacecraft was headed towards graveyard orbit, a region of space around Earth where satellites are typically directed to at the end of their operational life.
Before the rocket could reach its final destination, though, its upper stage engine failed two seconds into its second burn. This left the rocket and its dummy payload stranded in very low Earth orbit.
The rocket is actually so low that it’s now expected to go through an uncontrolled reentry, according to some experts.
Jonathan McDowell, astrophysicist at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics, tweeted that the mass of the rocket and payload weighs “around four tons” in all “so some bits may reach Earth surface.”

It’s like when they’re searching for a suspect in The First 48, and the voiceover intones, “But he’s nowhere to be found.” Of course he’s SOMEWHERE, as I yell at the screen...
And gravity may not be a force at all but merely an artifact caused by time and acceleration.
One of my faves is close to that one, where “QuickDraw” Baldwin is informed that HE must stick his neck out and tell the Joint Cheaps that he thinks Ramius is trying to defect. When he asks “Why me” and gets a mumbling answer about losing one’s career he sez, “Because I’m expendable (and my career isn’t important).” To which the Jeffery Pelt character sez, “Yeah. Something like that.” That is still a good flick, even though Baldwin has shown the world what a low-class POS he really is.
Why would they be sending a “simulated” payload to orbit.
Just to test the engines??

It sucks now how many good movies I enjoyed in the past are now ruined by Baldwin’s presence, Glengarry Glen Ross is another one.
She can keep my hovel warm.

I guess they are implying that there isn’t sufficient boost to propel the craft into a higher orbit. So why not just say that?...and learn to write English dammit!
