For the second year in a row, the city of York’s annual Saint Patrick’s Day parade has been canceled for 2022 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and a lack of volunteers.
Organizers said in a press release that “while COVID-19 is the main reason we have decided to cancel the upcoming parade, the underlying problem of not having enough people to assist with putting it on was a major factor.”
“For years, a small group of devoted residents have brought the parade, and numerous corresponding events, to fruition on a shoestring budget,” the statement read. “Unfortunately, a small group can only do so much for so long. The committee needs new members to ensure this family-friendly tradition doesn’t become a thing of the past.”
Organizers said they are specifically looking for people to help with marketing, accounting, fundraising, social media and event planning. Those interested in volunteering should email YorkStPatParade@gmail.com.
As a result of the cancellation, all entry fees, sponsorships, and donations will be applied to the 2023 parade. Those who would like a refund should send mail to YSPDP, P.O. Box 1043, York, PA 17405-1043, or email YorkStPatParade@gmail.com.

Please ping me with articles of interest.
FReepmail me to be added to the list.
Hopefully the parade will honor the life of St. Patrick. What started out as a day to honor a devout man of God has turned in to a giant beer bash and Wiccan leprechauns.
Will the BLM marches go on with guest appearances by former Mayor De Blasio and his wife? Although cheek to jowl at the past marches as shown in photos, pols gave strict orders to the Covid to stay away. Hope the new variants will listen.
York, Pennsylvania.
Occasionally confused with the Big Apple.
Blue city in a deep red County with a puzzified petty tyrant Mayor.
York Pennsylvania, population 45,000…. City???
Will the parade ever be held again?
By Pennsylvania Code “City of the Third Class”
Philly and Pittsburgh are “First Class”
Scranton is “Second Class”.
All the rest are “Third Class”
York in England has 130,000 people—a real city.
Why are they called YORK Peppermint Patties?
Henry Kessler named his new creation the “YORK Peppermint Pattie” after the place it originated - YORK, PA - and the soft and gummy peppermint center - the pattie.
Now made in Mexico.
Just like our country, history has been rewritten “wokely”. One can be blessed by reading the “real story” of not only St. Patrick but St. Nicholas
That designation in England used to come from having a diocesan cathedral. York Minster is a big one.
It would be a miracle if somebody could chase all the snakes out.

Sad. The parade has become too big. A simple priest must plan a day to do a Eucharistic procession with twenty followers holding St. Patrick banners and wearing green. Simple fix.
So they canceled a parade in December that is scheduled for March - here we go again in 2022 Cancel everything...
+!
If not Latin will do it a Greek (Orthodox) should because even east of the Bosporus Patrick is considered a glorified Saint as “Enlightener of the Irish and Equal-to-the Apostles”!
Surprisingly the Rose Parade and the Rose Bowl in California are still on. But don’t hold your breath as California and New York have been doing the lead in these acts.
