Boston workers organizing against coronavirus vaccine mandate: ‘Tyranny is here on our doorstep’

Boston city workers were gathering together Tuesday night to discuss how they’ll fight the new coronavirus vaccine mandate, warning that “tyranny is here on our doorstep.”

Mayor Michelle Wu last week announced that all city employees must be vaccinated by Jan. 15 or face termination. There will no longer be a regular COVID testing option for city workers.

But those with Boston First Responders United say they’re preparing a legal challenge against the mandate. The group on Tuesday gathered in West Roxbury and invited all city employees - from police officers and firefighters to teachers and family workers.

“People are standing up and making their voices heard,” Shana Cottone, president of Boston First Responders United, told the Herald. “We’re standing up for one another and for workers’ rights and civil rights.”

The group is crafting a lawsuit against the vax order.

“Tyranny is here on our doorstep and if we do not act now, in concert with ALL city workers, then we are sealing our own fate,” Boston First Responders United wrote in an event email.

AFSCME Council 93 - which represents about 2,000 city employees who work in a wide range of essential positions - said it hopes to negotiate soon with the city about the new mandate.

“AFSCME Council 93 has consistently maintained that vaccinations are the safest and most effective means of getting us through this pandemic,” Executive Director Mark Bernard said in a statement. “However, we also maintain that any policy related to vaccinations as a condition of employment must be negotiated with the union.

Next I expect compliance to be forced by health insurance mandates and government benefit mandates. Next will be driving “privileges”. Then it will be financial transactions.

If they refused to leave the establishment when asked by management/staff...then they’re trespassing. That’s a legitimate reason for arrest.

I take it as a good sign. All NYC’s crime problems must be solved if this is all the NYPD has to do.

Okay, so if a mayor declares, on his own, that Jews [or any other group] carry disease, and declares that members of this group must not enter restaurants, that would be fine with you?

no it’s absolutely not fine with me....mayors, governors, etc. declaring who can and cannot enter businesses is in no way and at no time legitimate.

that said, if I own a restaurant and ask you to leave you need to leave. if you refuse, you’re trespassing.

that is my one and only point.

So, if a restaurant has a “no blacks” or a “no Jews” policy, and asks a black or a Jew to leave, you are good with that?

Didn’t SCOTUS say something about public accommodations a while back?

Then the police should have mentioned the restaurant owner asked them to leave so it’s time to leave. Also, any restaurant or police that follow these orders are Nazis. Businesses that followed Nazi “law” are guilty as well. This doesn’t stop unless we take a stand..period! The restaurant will soon be out of business either by government over reach or by the people that supported them through the lockdowns.

Exactly! This is no different. Businesses that comply with these BS unconstitutional orders are also in compliance with tyranny. Meaning, if you comply with tyranny you support tyranny. Businesses in 1941 in Germany that complied were also Nazis whether they believed it or not.

Following an illegal order disguised as law does not make it right.

I couldn’t agree more. Unless I have no alternative, I simply do not spend my money at any establishment that forces government tyranny. that’s the only way this stops.

however it’s the business owners caught in the middle. they’re trying their best to keep this crap from destroying their businesses and putting food on the table.
