Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo accused the Biden administration of "actively preventing the effective distribution of monoclonal antibody treatments" in the United States, according to a Tuesday letter addressed to Secretary of Health and Human Services Xavier Becerra.
The Biden administration recently paused shipments of COVID-19 antibody treatments manufactured by major drug companies Regeneron and Eli Lilly amid claims that such treatments are not effective against the omicron variant of the coronavirus.
The federal government continues to supply Sotrovimab, a monoclonal antibody from the company Glaxosmithkline, which reportedly does work against omicron.
Ladapo concluded his letter by referencing comments Biden made Monday that there wasn’t a solution by the federal government to end the nearly two-year-old pandemic.
"There is no federal solution. This gets solved at the state level," Biden said at the time in response to Arkansas Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson warning the president against letting "federal solutions stand in the way of state solutions."

I’m in Texas. Department of State Health Services announced, IIRC it was yesterday, the state is out of Monoclonal Antibodies for treatment of COVID.
I’m sure it’s just a coincidence that red states are hardest hit by the shortages. /s

MCA can prevent successful vaccines
It appears that since the monoclonals attach to spike proteins it inhibits your body from producing antibodies if you are given an mRNA vaccine.
Likely since the government has gone all out on vaccines they don't want any drug messing with it. The GlaxoSmithKline monoclonal sotrovimab supposedly targets a different structure on the virus so wouldn't interfere. (pure speculation on my part)
Most recently a lab test of omicron using regeneron and Eli Lilly MCAs show poor efficacy:

This shows a reduction in neutralizing capacity of sera from vaccinated individuals and MCAs
It's funny the MCAs from Regeneron and Eli Lilly have success with other variants. There are no studies that I know of that indicate they are less effective when used on people with Omicron. Perhaps there is preliminary data from South Africa since Regeneron is not fighting this at all.
It seems very inconsistent. Ivermectin worked in a lab trial (although at a very high dosing). Yet no large trial in the US was ever done to even try to see if various dosing schedules would work.
Then 1 negative lab trial kills Regeneron and Eli Lilly MCAs even though they have been the best therapeutic to date without even a published trial in humans to see if it is indeed ineffective against Omicron.
I will let others draw conclusions from all of this.
There are only 55,000 doses in the US of sotrovimab since it is effective against other strains why wasn't the government stockpiling this medication as a back up to Regeneron and Eli Lilly MCA in case of shortages???
One final question. If the MCAs attach to the spike protein produced by the vaccines. How can the vaccines be effective against Omicron and the MCAs not be???
The German study seems to indicate that this is the indeed the case. But no let up on the mandates. Now I can answer this to some extent. Sera from a vaccinated human probably does not contain enough purified antibody at the levels of the MCAs in the test. So there may be some wiggle room in that.

MAbs will kill off the virus before your own immune system can learn to make its own antibodies against the virus. So you won’t gain natural immunity from that infection.
To train your immune system you will either need to let the infection run untreated, with the risks that go with that, or get vaccinated.

Thank for confirming this, even though it’s bad news. Three family members who tested positive (one was fully vaccinated and elderly) got MABs on my advice soon after they became available and they worked like magic. It’s sad and scary they have become so scarce now.

Why are more people dead from Covid than last year?

300K were dead by Dec 25, 2020, a majority elderly, prior to the vaccine rollout proper, another 100K dead by the end of Jan, as below 70s became majority patients and elderly patient numbers dropped with increased vaccination. Since then, another 400K have died, almost all unvaccinated. This, in spite of the US being the originator of 3 vaccines, the originator of accurate rapid tests, champion of test and isolate as an alternative to vaccinations, and a pioneer in monoclonal treatments.
Starting right now with 100million remaining unprotected, if they would all refuse to vaccinate, and all got infected, and, if overall mortality remains 1.8%, the worst-case result is about 2 million additional deaths to be expected from Delta if Delta remains dominant. According to UK data, of 129 Omi patients, 14 died. That’s a preliminary 1.1% hospitalized mortality, or one million deaths out of the 100million unprotected. (otoh, SA is reporting a preliminary 6.9% hospitalized mortality and they are way unvaccinated)

Oh, he wrote a letter….
Since I was exposed just as the holiday approached I inquired about testing appt options if needed. The scheduling nurse told me they are no longer giving out the monoclonal (which a wonderful televisit dr. as about to order for me last year if the test came out positive) because the “CDC” just sent out a memo stating they aren’t effective against Omicron. I said so this is the prominent variant now? Delta us gone? Are folks even tested to see which they have before they are simply denied treatment? 😔
Friend has Covid. Not too serious, but she does have some serious health issue to make her be overly careful. Decided to go for MCA and no hospital in our area has it. She finally located some in a smaller town 2 hours east and got it. But thry said by tomorrow supplies will be gone.
They really are trying to kill people. Our own government ! I never ever would have belived this possible even a few years ago.

The death toll would be much lower had not the government (CDC) blocked/prohibited/ punished all alternative treatment.
