Inches of snow fall in Seattle on Sunday, with more expected as temperatures dip
Seattle Times ^ | 12/26/2021

A winter storm warning remains in effect for southwest Washington, where a cold front pushing in from Canada could meet up with precipitation off the Pacific Ocean for up to 4 more inches of snow through Sunday night.

Temperatures in the Seattle area are still expected to drop into the teens Sunday night, with wind chill that feels as cold as 11 degrees. A little more snow in Seattle is still possible — forecasts predict less than half an inch.

CHILDREN JUST AREN’T GOING TO KNOW WHAT SNOW IS

https://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/blogs/tim-blair/children-just-arent-going-to-know-what-snow-is/news-story/5a16c85680b7cc94f345240a727fb09d

From The Independent, 2000:

‘Snow is starting to disappear from our lives.

‘According to Dr David Viner, a senior research scientist at the climatic research unit of the University of East Anglia, within a few years winter snowfall will become “a very rare and exciting event”. “Children just aren’t going to know what snow is,” he said.’

It’d be interesting to go back 50 - 100 years and see if articles like this were ever printed back then. I suspect not unless there was like some historic blizzard like New England ‘78 - something like that. Back in the day it was just - as you say - weather.

Story is from 2013. This guy needs to be CALLED OUT and ridiculed to at least 10-fold anything done to Trump.

IIRC, this is called the Sierra Storm King. The kind of storm that trapped the Donner party.

I’m a few miles from Seattle, and it stopped snowing ten minutes ago. For how long I don’t know. The temperature here got as warm as 26, but that was hours ago. It’s now 25 and holding. I have had to defreeze my hummingbird feeders twice so far.

No kidding, it just started snowing again.

And the Chicago Bares are losing the game. I sit correct, the Bears won by a single point 25-24.

As you know “Seattle area” is a whole different ballgame than Seattle proper.

I always read these headlines with a grain of salt for that reason.

I was actually in Seattle on business years ago when the city had several inches of snow.

The locals told me it was a total fluke.
