No re-writing is necessary; there’s no conflict with the Genesis creation account. If there’s extraterrestrial life, God created that, too.

Personally, I doubt aliens exist, but scripture is silent on the matter. We do know God has other creations. There are the 4 living beasts in the throne room. He created angels.
But scripture seems indicates that the universe was created for man, and that the end of the universe and creation of a new heavens and a new earth is also tied to man.
God could create aliens but their history would have to be coordinated with man’s. Which is entirely possible.

This has been explored “ad nauseam” in many SciFi novels and short stories. It would be far easier, cheaper & just as “accurate” to bind these books & stories into one report with a 6th grade reading level executive summary for FedGov executives. Money clearly burning a hole in some NASA division pocket that clearly could be better spent elsewhere.
