Some common sense from South Africa on the COVID front

Some nations seem to know what they are doing on the COVID response front, and some don't.

Amazingly, it's not the ones you'd think they are.

Here's the news from South Africa, as reported by the New York Post:

South Africa will no longer impose COVID-19 quarantines and stop most contact tracing — now that as much as 80 percent of the country has gained immunity from previous infections, health officials said.

Director General of Health Dr. Sandile Buthelezi announced Thursday in a release that the country will change its strategy to focus on mitigation efforts, the South African reported.

“Quarantine has been costly to essential services and society as many people stay away from their work and thus lose their income and children miss on their schooling,” the release said, Bloomberg reported. “We never identify most high risk patients.”

Eighty percent of the country has natural immunity, which studies show is far better than any vaccine, and certainly requires no continuous booster shots. Better still, the officials there recognize this, they aren't denying that natural immunity ... makes people immune.

Basically, there's an end in sight to COVID now and this country's citizens are free to move on with their lives.

It follows from Sweden's use of natural immunity and rejection of masks and lockdowns as its COVID solution. The latest news from that common-sense country is that they aren't going to waste billions on testing for people who have already been vaccinated for COVID. They drew some criticism from the European Union types in this story, who are all in for testing, testing, testing, as if looking to get the numbers up. But the number of COVID cases is low, most likely as a result of herd immunity,

Good in some ways, bad in others.

Wear mask at home if “severely symptomatic”? Why? What right have they to check on you? And why torture people with a breathing disease by further restricting their breathing?

The way to look at South Africa’s medical system is to ignore the Socialized part of it and pay attention to the private side (which is at least as good as any in the West) and the government management of it.

And it’s the government management where the huge difference is - as South Africa does NOT have nearly as much corruption and outright lying to the people as the drug-industry-controlled US and Europeans do.

So if they say it’s over, then you can bet they came to that conclusion WITHOUT any ‘help’ from Moderna, Pfizer, or J&J.

Common sense is not a gift. It’s a punishment because you have to deal with everyone else who doesn’t have it.

Anybody remember when South Africa was a leading nation in the world in many respects? First in heart medicine, a member in good standing as part of the armed forces that would stand with the US against the communists. A rich country, that happened to have a “guest worker” program that required people from outside the country to return home if they wanted to vote, and were not allowed to vote in South Africa, because they were only guest workers. Next thing you know, the Central Americans got the world to support them as the minority/majority, and they displaced the people who built the nation of America..... Whoops, I mean the blackfricans who did nothing to build SA, were not even native to the land there, stole it from the descendants of those who made a world class nation. It couldn’t happen here, could it?

If the symptoms of a pandemic are printed on a bottle of NyQuil it is not a pandemic.

That is perhaps the best one line summary of the current situation I've come across. Well done! (yes I'm stealing it)
