Taco Bell, the restaurant known for having ground beef that's utterly indescribable, reportedly told Beyond Meat that its version of carne asada wasn’t good enough to serve. According to Bloomberg, the chain canceled a test product that featured Beyond’s plant-based steak after samples failed to live up to its standards.
Beyond Meat denies the report — Shira Zackai, head of communications at the company told The Verge in an email that “the test between Beyond Meat and Taco Bell was not canceled. Our partnership is strong, and we are actively working together to create a plant-based protein that’s completely new to the national QSR (quick serve restaurant) space. We look forward to sharing more details on what Beyond Meat and Taco Bell have planned in the coming months.”
The report doesn’t make it clear what the company wasn’t fond of — was it the texture? The taste? Was it just too high-end for Taco Bell, seeming more like something you’d find at a Chipotle rather than the restaurant known as the place you drunkenly get 2 AM takeout and NFTs? Whatever the case, people on Twitter have been having an absolute field day with the news.

It’s going to take more than fake meat to make me stop loving Taco Bell. Sorry, folks.
Taco Bell...Beyond Meat...sounds like the ingredients for a horror movie.
The Creature From The Drive-Up Window !!!
How bad does the stuff have to be to be turned down by taco bell?
BAD!!!
Your like my wife.....every now and then she gets a craving for it and if I try to talk her out of it, it gets ugly. Lol
OBTW for those who don’t know, fake meat in no healthier than real meat and in some ways not as healthy.
None for me thanks. ✋
↑↑↑THIS!!!!↑↑↑
That roadkill armadillo meat tastes very distinctive. Don’t mess it up with any GMO non-meat meat.
LOL.
Fake meat hasn’t stopped you in the past at Taco Bell
Why start now?
I always thought Jacks tacos had fake meat but its real, and I admit I will scarf down 6 of those for $3.
Jack has better sauce too.
Seriously, FRiend. The Taco Bell snobs never give it up. Even in an article about them making the right choice not to serve soy glop, the author takes the cheap shots. I love good authentic Mexican food. My family has been going to the same restaurant in by hometown since 1950, and I go every time I’m there. Taco Bell isnt that, but It taste good and I like it. Those who don’t shouldn’t eat it
So,you haven’t seen the movie INHUMANWICH....Astronaut goes to space, comes back a blob that eats people....Looks like a huge blob of hamburger
What’s next....Subway serves fake tuna???
Knowing how only a limited number of consumers purchased vegetarian “meat-alternatives”, the whole “Beyond Meat” marketing seems little more than investor fraud.
This should be of concern to everyone who is thinking about eating fake meat fast food. And I was a vegetarian for over 20 years - this is downright scary.
Feeling backed up? Take 3 [taco bell] tacos and call me in the morning.
Maybe beyond fake meat isn’t fake enough. Taco bell lab tests determined it was contaminated with real beef
When I lived in town and we would be hanging out in the yard of an evening, from time to time an ambulance with siren and flashing lights would pass the house.
“They’re going to have some fresh tacos at Taco Bell! Start the car!”
It’s been a while since I’ve seen two Jack tacos for 99 cents. Seems to be at least $1.59 these days.
LOL! 🤣
