WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden on Monday introduced the newest member of his family, a purebred German shepherd puppy named Commander, while the first lady’s office said the cat she promised more than a year ago to bring to the White House will finally join them in January.

GSDs can be highly variable. I think most tend naturally to be complete Teddy bears, if raised kindly with love. Some of those are high energy and joyous, for lack of a better word, but entirely devoted and incapable of any aggression with their owners. Others will be entirely laid back, and prefer lounging at the feet of their owners, or on the couch next to them, and are more or less dependent on being around the owner at all times to be happy. I’ve found that difference between joyous and laid-back relates to physical qualities, so it is probably genetic.
Some get badly bred, and have an anxiousness, or reflexive anger that gets triggered with excitement, and some can be trained into that by a bad owner. A lot of times, I think they are reflective of their owners in that regard. But in my experience, those are a very small component of the breed, and very unlikely to happen if you just look for good parents and raise the dog lovingly.

I would never diss the helpless dog so.
They did this to make him look like a friendly old grandpa, but it doesn’t. It makes him look feeble. That aside, Major is apparently a biter, so I have a feeling they’re pushing him into the background before they get rid of him - by adopting him out, I hope.
They got the puppy and cat so people will blame them, instead of Joe for the piles of crap around The White House.
Remember, Joe broke his foot while trying to get a piece of tail in the shower with his dog Major.
Hi and Merry Christmas Salamander, didn’t look at it this way however YES Major is much better off!! Major had an aggressive behavior HOWEVER animals KNOW when their surroundings and owners are not good!!! I hope Major finds the rest of his life far more peaceful and he becomes the wonderful dog he is away from these uncaring bastards, the fact they could just discard him shows you exactly who they are!!

‘Bad’ dogs are like ‘bad’ kids - they are usually the result of their upbringing. (There are exceptions - but they are rare.)
There are professionals who work to re-train troubled animals; I’ve known one who was a genius.
But I guess it was just easier for the Bidens to farm the dog out. Doesn’t help the dog much, but I guess it’s convenient for the Bidens...
...and now they’ve got another dog to fail to train diligently.
